This posting smacked me as very, very interesting.

Something a bit different moved across my desk Friday. No, it wasn't a cream cheese-covered everything bagel. It was a press release from ODU announcing a 10-year agreement with CBS Collegiate Sports Properties.

The rub of this is that ODU is going to let one of its employees go so that he can join CBS. After that, he'll be the ODU liason in charge of landing TV and radio games for the Monarchs outside their normal CAA block. Oh, and there will be extra signage at games at Foreman Field, The Ted and The Bud. Typically, this arm of the sports program has been handled in-house and has at times exhausted the staff.

It's worth asking: is ODU's pursuit of some specific possible TV deals with CBS something that might affect CAA football coverage when the Monarchs enter the league in '09? After all, CBS has their own collegiate network (CSTV)...

I'm not sure that this affects CAA football. CAA Football already has a relationship through CSTV with the CAA to broadcast one game/week.

There's more to the story than Radford reported in his blog. With this deal ODU agreed to a 10-year multimedia rights partnership with CBS Collegiate Sports Properties. CBS Collegiate Sports Properties will manage all of ODU's athletic marketing and multimedia assets. CBS has agreed to make capital commitments over the next 10 years, to include video/LED scoreboards at Foreman Field and our baseball complex, as well as upgraded signage at the Ted Constant Center our basketball facility. Thus we get a new video scoreboard for a refurbished Foreman Field when we play our first game in 2009.

Nahh, this is simply between ODU and their media outlets, no barring on the CAA.

Seems that ODU is increasing their current partnership with CSTV -- who is the web site provider of their web site...assuming CSTV is trying to increase their foothold in the business, more than they do already with all those CSTV web sites...

For the Record, I'm with Anderson on the Lohan Reality show issue. :P

Also, veering back on topic, I think that this really has nothing to do with TV. It, however, is a fantastic coup for ODU sports.
