UCA played them in the playoffs in our last season of D2 and they were a very tough opponent. They are a welcomed addition to FCS. Best of luck Eagles!

Good luck to you guys! xthumbsupx

With trips to JMU, Cal Poly and Coastal on your schedule, you are building your program the right way. It may take a while, but I bet NC Central will continue to get better each year and even knock off a couple teams unexpectedly (to the rest of the nation) along the way.

Here's to hoping we crush you in Harrisonburg! xsmiley_wix

can you give me some info on your team? We play you this year and I admit, I know absolutely nothing about you. When did you move up from D2 and what conference will you be in?

UNA played NCCU in the playoffs in 2005. We didn't take advantage of opportunities and lost 24 - 21. That was one heartbreaking game; but we didn't play UCA.

That statement would have so much more meaning if we actually had a conference home.xrolleyesx

We played our first season in FCS in 2007. We moved up from the CIAA, where we left as a champion and a nationally ranked division II program.
Last year we finished 6-4 against a half FCS/half DII schedule. Wins: NC A&T, ECSU, FSU, St. Augustine, North Greenville, Savannah St Losses: Albany State, Presbyterian,Western Kentucky, WSSU.

Currently we are an independent, and appear to be headed to the MEAC (we have historical ties with the MEAC, having been a founding member, and it was founded on our campus). But there has not been anything official.

Thank you so much for asking about the NCCU Eagles Program. Information about our program can be found at: http://nccueaglepride.cstv.com/ot/d1proces.html

Currently, NCCU is looking to Re-Join the MEAC, when possible.
http://www.meacsports.com/

For those of you who have extended you Best Wishes towards NCCU, in Good Sports-Man-Ship, I thank you, and wish the very best for your Athletics Programs as well.

NCCU is attempting to build a very good Division I (FCS) program, the correct way, by playing very good schools along the way, who will play us.

Yes, The NCCU "Eagles" may take a few lumps along the way and hopefully not too many lumps. But, like anything else, it is a building and learning process, in trying to get where the NCCU "Eagles" will like to be in 2012, by hopefully being outstanding enough to win a conference championship (Hopefully in the MEAC) some place, and doing very well in the Division I (FCS) Playoffs.

Hopefully, NCCU will have the honor to meet many of your very fine (FCS) Teams along the way, and perhaps have the honor to give out a few lumps of our own, in due time, as NCCU does its best to obtain its goals of winning a Division I (FCS) National Championship someday, before 2016.

All things are possible with appropriate administrative planning, Good Coaching, Good Recruiting, Good Attitude, Hard Work and BELIEVING in our abilities to stay FOCUS and WIN each Game, one at a time.

If our NCCU "Eagles" can do that, we will be alright when that time comes to show our stuff, of what we are made of, and what we can do

Good Luck to All.

Take Care!

You're right I confused your team with Albany State. We also ended up losing to UNA 41-38.

I would have thought you guys would have had an invite from the MEAC by now...

Would NCCU be opposed to joining, say, the Big South :D :D ??? We have an autobid in a couple of years....

If not the MEAC or Big South, how about the Great West. Hey don't laugh, New Jersey Institute of Technology is in the Great West.

Wow learn something new everyday. But um, nah our alums travel for games, but not THAT well.

The Big South was always a consideration according to initial reports. I'm not opposed to joining the Big South, however I'm certainly in the minority among alumni and students. HBCU fans are wedded to the band experience, and inclusion in the MEAC would not only provide incentives to see the large MEAC bands (as opposed to the CIAA); it would reunite us with our former CIAA rivals (NSU, A&T, WSSU, Howard, Hampton).

I believe we may be caught in the middle of a north/south power struggle. It's rumored that the MEAC presidents are in favor of expansion, it's just that the southern schools want one school, while the northern schools want another to pair with us.

WileECoyote - while not in the style of the HBCU bands, I think you'll find a great band if you make the trip to Harrisonburg this fall.

Here are some great performances last year from a state-wide band competition JMU hosts each year - "The Parade of Champions"

We are glad to have NCCU come up north to Central Connecticut. We will be great hosts and I think both sides will have a great day.

NCCU could definitely become power within Big South Conference immediately.. Coach Rison need to hired offensive coordinator and contiune making the Eagles into national power on 1-aa level like Joe Taylor did with Hampton..
