Not a shock here. Good list for the preseason. Delaware has a good argument in Marcorelle but with Belcher earning All-America honors last year I think that is a safe choice at this point.

Glad to see Tom Bishop earn preseason ALL Conference at punter.

I love that JMU has so little regarding individual accolades, it shows the strength of the team aspect.

Very true. If there was a 2nd and 3rd team, like in the postseason, I have a feeling there would be a lot more Dukes, though. You guys have a very good OL with several returnees who probably make it, as well as a few others.

Agreed. Tom IMHO improved significantly last season from the prior season, probably the Wildcat making the biggest improvement.

Rhode Island dominates the list again...

Is William and Mary still in the CAA?

I guess it will be tough to pass on UMass. xeyebrowx

BTW, how long before umassfan shows up and complains about only 5 Minutemen making the list?

I miss all those whiny UMass fans (unfortunately, they seem to be right more often than not :()

I'll do it for him. Definitely not complaining about the list, just wouldn't be surprised if LB Josh Jennings or DL Michael Hanson found their way on 1st team CAA by the end of the season. Certainly shouldn't be on the preseason list.

Sorry that wasn't really whining nor a typical UMassFan post! ;) xlolx xlolx :p

I too think UNH has a few budding stars that might find their way onto the 1st-3rd teams by season end like Scott Sicko did last season.

Haha yeah, guess it wasn't really the same.

Jennings was UMass' fourth "starting LB" last year, behind Charles Walker, Jason Hatchell and George Byrd. Now that Walker and Hatchell are gone, he should get the time to shine. Hatchell was a 3 year starter with tackling totals of 107, 134 and 115. Walker started every game the past 2 years and had 131 and 116 tackles those years. Jennings now gets to take Walker's MLB spot - last year he had 69 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 6 sacks, 4 BrUp and 1 FF. Leading returning tackler on team, and second in TFL and sacks behind Hanson. I can just see him doing great this year, without being stuck behind Walker and Hatchell.

I've already made my case for Hanson elsewhere :)

Aaron Love should be an all-american this season.

If not, it won't be his fault. New OL and QB will have a lot to do with it.

Yeah but he has the potential and speed and catching ability and agility he has it all. From what I saw in the Championship game is the OHIO STATE tranfer can get him the ball he'll make plays.

Evan McCollough corner and Hassan Abdul-Wahid, DE

Both are 2 yr starters and were 2nd Team all CAA last year. Not sure why neither of them are on the 1st team. Macorelle for UD got voted to the 1st team over Wahid, even though Wahid was 2nd team and Marcorelle was 3rd team All CAA last season. Landers was 2nd team All CAA last season with Coen. If the 08' preseason 1st team had 2 QBs like the 07' ALL CAA team did Landers would likely be the other candidate with Coen. The JMU kicker, Stannard, was 2nd team ALL CAA also, but the 1st team kicker is coming back.

Of JMU's 2 returning 1st teamers (including Holloman from 06') and 4 returning 2nd teamers, I would have thought they would have had 4-5 guys on the 1st team as opposed to just 2. I see UR has 6 and UMass and UD each have 5.

I did notice that the 2007 CAA 1st team has 32 players:
http://www.caasports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=48484&SPID=4660&DB_OEM_ID=8500&ATCLID=1322562

While the 08' preseason only has 28 (including the kicker, punter and return specialist not shown:
http://www.caasports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=48484&SPID=4660&DB_OEM_ID=8500&ATCLID=1515072
Compared to the 07' team there's only 1 QB instead of 2, 2 RBs instead of 3, 3 WRs instead of 4. 1 return specilaist instead of 2.
