Great game. YSU missed many chances to blow WIU away. They hung tough.

Now 6-1

I am uploading my game pics now.

11,909 on hand. But it was as loud as the ISU Game.

WIU passing attack could not be stopped. Somehow we stopped them a lot when it counted the most and we escaped.

Our kicking game was suspect. Our running game was suspect. Our passing game was suspect. But somehow the 12th man; the YSU Fans got that pic off with a minute left to insure a penguin victory!

But boy o boy that Western Illinois Team is GOOD. And I am deadly scared of MSU next week. Its homecoming and the hall of fame game. Huge crowd is expected and we will need it. But I am telling you if we play like we did tonight vs them we will get blown out. Too many mistakes

23-21!
6-1

Try to make it sound good all you want but Western is not a good team. Hard for me to say they are good with a 2-5 record and one of those wins coming against a D-II team and the other against a poor Northern Colorado team.

This team finds ways to lose and winners don't do that.

There is some talent on the team, but good talent does not always make a good team.

Didn't hear the game but I'm shocked by the score and stats. Looks like the Guins need to be better prepared or this might be their last "W".

Naw , Red. We dominated ,but made too many mistakes. We got lots of turn-overs from WIU and had a lot of sacks. FS Chenault missed the game for an appendectomy. With him, we would have showed better in the secondary.

Our starting OL Tanner & Walker were back, but played sparingly. When we get healthy, we'll be trouble for anyone.

Give WIU credit. They played well, but we forced alot of mistakes out of them.

Paladin. Dominated? What game were you at?

Sure a wins a win but man WIU was just killing any offensive threat we had. They dominated for most of the game. They had the lead when it mattered late but we got the late score.

Steub BIGRed we had a major struggle. About 3-4 possessions in the red zone end in 3 points

You guys are as bad a FAN. Look at the stats. We gave up 48 yds on the ground and THEY TRIED TO RUN. We got 7 ( count em, 7) sacks and an INT.

The 363 yds passing got them 21 points. PERIOD.. We had most of the passes covered & in front of us. D was pretty decent, all things considered.

Where we had problems was in PK and poor pass protection. Mason tore up. Those stats and the score doesn't tell every thing. Other than go ahead of us in the 4th qtr, we had a very sound game and other opportunities to blow them out that we missed.

Give WIU credit, but it was obvious who was the better team tonite. Just needed longer to do the job. Can't blow everyone out.

Don't take this the wrong way. I'm happy we won. I'll take an ugly win over a sexy loss any day!

Bottom line; YSU need's to do better than this game period!

WIU 363YDS PASSING

YSU's slide begins with a 2 point loss.

You wish, Coastal.. Most of you guys have no clue what is in Youngstown this year.

Shame on you. You'll be embarassed as an "expert". :p
I look like more of an expert than any of the other predictions. I missed it by 4 points.

Paladin you shouldn't consider yourself a football analyst. :nonono2: :nonono2:

This was only my second YSU game I attended in person this year, I gave up my Michigan-PSU tickets to go

-YSU was out muscled in the trenches(O-line).
-Zetts was on in the beginning of the game then cooled off.
-The refs were horrible.
-YSU needs to convert TD's in the red zone.
-Wright was too conservative in play calling at the end of the first half and enabled WIU to score before halftime.
-YSU secondary was picked apart by Lafalce (sp?).
-YSU LB's were constantly out of position in pass coverage.
-Too many completions by WIU over the middle.
-YSU run D played well.
-YSU RB Marcus Mason continues to impress
-Piss poor attendance by YSU fans, I've seen more at a high school game there. No excuse, OSU game was over by 3:30. I will have to say those who remained in the 4th qtr. were very loud, those are the die hards.
-YSU K stinks!, give that Ferrell a shot. Make an extra point for cryin out loud! That missed PAT could have cost YSU the game in the end
-I'm not into marching bands, but what happened to the YSU band? The numbers get smaller every year. I counted 92 band members excluding the flag line and majorettes. I remember when the band had 200+
-Get rid of the baseball music in between downs on the PA, I like the other stuff played though especially the music that Penn St plays when there students jump up & down and go nuts.
-Credit to WIU for almost pulling it out, but as others said, these are the kind of games YSU has lost the past few years. A win is a win no matter how ugly.
-The playoffs start for YSU this week against a good Mo St team, then on to UNI, SIU, WKU Ouch!

Why does Youngstown State have such a small marching band? My high school which was only 1200 people had 200 people...YSU which has 12,000 students can't even get near 100? Can you even hear them play? :p

Ya. They are really good. Many high schools in our area, Boardman-Poland-Warren-Hubbard all have 200+ member bands who play in parades like Macy's. Lets face it. If we can hear them; you can't be mad!

Maybe this close game (almost loss) will tame some of our YSU friends.

I noticed this too and enjoy a good band (West Chester, Umass, UD) but let's face it no matter how good the band we all go to the game to watch FOOTBALL. ;) ;)
