NDSU pays between $25,000 and $35,000 for Division II teams and between $50,000 and $70,000 for Division I-AA programs, said athletic director Gene Taylor.

NDSU may get to the point of playing two I-A games a year because of the NCAA’s recent decision to allow I-A teams to schedule 12 games. In the past, I-A teams were allowed to play a I-AA program once every four years.

Now they can do it every year.

Taylor envisions NDSU playing a Sun Belt Conference-type of team for about $150,000 to $175,000 and a Bowl Championship Series I-A team for significantly more.

Which Sun Belt team? Wouldn't NDSU be a better fit for the WAC or MWC? Seems like a better fit..

I think he mentioned SunBelt teams because we would have a good chance at winning, I would rather see MAC/WAC/MWC.

If I recall, UNI gave Minnesota State somewhere around 40,000 dollars to come in last year. That could be a little high, though. I think Drake got 50,000.

There are teams closer that NDSU can pick on, like in the WAC, say New Mexico State or San Diego State. That would seem like a better fit, and I'm pretty sure we can put together a team of members from this board and beat NMSU.

Overall the WAC is currently 11-24 thus far. :bang:

NDSU's guarantee to Arkinsas Monticello for the season opener this fall was $58,000. I guess supply meets demand, and the supply of available teams at that time was low.

That, and taking a team from Arkansas all the way north to North Dakota is no small trip.

Montana had to payoff (I was told this) Central Washington (D-II 350 mile travel ) when The Griz Dropped CWU to play Oregon.

50K I am told was their guarantee.

That sucks, but I'll bet the Griz made a nice amount over that payment by playin the Ducks! :)
