White Team Prevails Over Blue Squad in 30-23 Spring Football Game

The Central Connecticut spring football season officially ended on Friday afternoon. The White Team prevailed in a 30-23 contest at the Annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Arute Field. The Blue Devils threw the ball 51 times. Sophomore Aubrey Norris completed 11-of-17 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns to lead the three-man rotation at quarterback. Junior college transfer Hunter Wanket went 14-of-22 for 112 yards and a touchdown, and sophomore Zach Cavanaugh was 5-of-11 for 40 yards. "Today was a great day," head coach Jeff McInerney said. "We had had some fun in some beautiful weather. It was the perfect way to end the spring season."

NEW BRITAIN — - Quarterback Hunter Wanket played at the same junior college as Tyler Lorenzen.

Coach Jeff McInerney hopes Wanket brings the same leadership and passing skills to Central Connecticut that Lorenzen has to UConn.

Wanket completed 14 of his first 18 passes and finished 14-for-22 for 112 yards and one touchdown in Central's Blue-White scrimmage Friday at Arute Field.

New Britain Herald -Quarterbacks rule the day

By Matt Straub
NEW BRITAIN — Central Connecticut coach Jeff McInerney had three goals coming into the spring game on Friday.

First was to “make it look like football.”

While the focus was a much on entertaining the fans (the energetic head coach walked around the field with a microphone during the game) as it was football, that was accomplished.

The second was to demonstrate that the Blue Devils can move the football by something other than a handoff. The third was to come out of the game healthy.

Central was 2-for-3.

G-d...I hope it is the blue one.

I like the current helmets...why change?

I like both designs. The interlocking "CC" is what the baseball team wears on its cap.

IMO - The current unis and helmet color are great, but the pitchfork and "Blue Devils" wordmark just doesn't look right on a helmet.

Exactly why I don't like it. But...not my school. I do like the blue colored one, however.

I like hte change, I think the Blue Devils text is boring, this isn't that exciting, but it is different. Maybe they will use 2 helmets ala Oregon, Hawaii, Baylor.

Definately like the blue better, but could be happy with the white (you know, if I were actually a CCSU fan ;))

It is definately a big improvement over the pitchfork with "Blue Devils" on it xnodx
