I ranked the starting and potential starting QBs for the Big Sky in 2008. Granted I haven't kept up with other teams offseason's as much as I have in the past, so I may be missing something in here somewhere.

Not too bad, though i think with what Nichols proved he should still be ahead of Higgins and I think Hubel should be ahead of cole due to his offense. I think this year the Griz will see how good Cole really is... Overall good job

I'm not sure why you think Nichols is immobile. He averaged 30 ypg rushing & had a 100-yard game against Weber. Higgins only averaged 16 rushing ypg. Bergquist averaged 32 ypg on the ground while Kriesen was far away the leader in QB rushing @ 62 ypg. I would pretty much only change the top-3:

1. Matt Nichols, EWU
2. Cole Bergquist, UMT
3. Cameron Higgins, WEB
4. Lance Kriesien, NAU
5. Drew Hubel, PSU
6. Russel Hill, ISU
7t. Unproven QB's, UNC
7t. Unproven QB's, MSU
9. Jason Smith, et al., SAC

Jordan Rasmussen/Mark Iddins/Mark Desin, Montana State - What was originally thought to be a 2 person race, ex-WR Mark Desin has been impressing so far this spring. Desin threw for over 9300 yards in his high school career in Montana, and will be a sophomore. He is the most mobile of all, but is only 5′11 tops. .

Dave Dickenson reincarnated, perhaps?

I sure hope not.... xeyebrowx xeyebrowx xeyebrowx

I didn't say Nichols wasn't mobile, I just think that Higgins is more of a running threat. Higgins wasn't in an offense designed for someone who can run, I expect McBride to add a few plays to take advantage of his mobility.

Desin is faster than Dickenson, but I don't know if he is as accurate. I think he has a slightly stronger arm as well.

No way possible, Dave is still kicking.

I would rank the QB based on impact on the game...

Nichols
Kriesien/Higgins (both have the ability to TAKE over a game in their own way)
Berquist (seems more of a manager than a game changer IMO)
Hubel (more games like the WSU game and he'll be just fine)
Hill (needs to cut down on the turnovers)
MSU QB (good support should lead him to a decent season)
UNC QB (UNC seems to be making improvements...solid QB play will make or break them this season)
SAC QB (will Smith be starting again?)

discuss...

I like the rankings. Vlahogeorge isn't in the mix at UNC anymore though. The coaches moved him to tight end.

I think Berquist has the ABILITY to be a game changer, but appears to be a "manager" because of the conservative nature of Bobby's system. xcoffeex
But, I will concede that Cole isn't as dynamic as Kreisen or Nichols.

so you would agree with my list?

I just look at it like this; if you had your pick of who you would want to face off against the top teams in the country (say, AppSt?) who would you take?

I would take the guy that would create the most problems for a defense and has the most ability to create plays...

I'll agree with the list, right now.

The 3 QB's we have, could all be game changers, we shall see this fall.

Best of luck to all who are enduring QB battles...competition breeds success
