It all starts with the quarterback and with Ricky Santos gone after four ultra-productive seasons, filling his talented cleats will be chore one – maybe even chore two and chore three – when the University of New Hampshire football team opens spring camp tomorrow afternoon.

There are plenty of other questions and things to accomplish, too, over the next 15 practice sessions leading up to the Blue-White Spring Game on May 3.

Who will join Mike Boyle and J.T. Wright as primary targets at wide receiver? How will offensive coordinator Sean Devine and his crew utilize a couple of promising redshirt freshman tight ends in Chris Jeannot and Sean Cullen? Can Sean McGowan and his guys on the other side of the ball, with some bulked-up guys up front, shore up the defense? Will the defense be able to generate more pressure on opposing quarterbacks?

RJ Toman will be the "man" at UNH for the next 3 years. He proved himself last Fall when he came off the bench to replace an injured Santos and was spectacular and led UNH to a 35-30 win over FCS finalist Delaware and Joe Flacco and then led UNH to a win over Iona going 15 for 19 before Santos returned for the Hofstra game.

I played with him in high school--he is a flat liner --not a rah rah guy--cool under pressure--leads by example--as his teammates at UNH have said---we did not skip a beat when Toman played

While Toman is exceptional, Kevin Decker may be just as good if not better. I believe that Decker is a better pocket QB and throws a better ball than RJ, but RJ is better when a play breaks down and something has to be made on the run. RJ should, and does, have the #1 job going into Spring Practice, but I would not be surprised in the least to see Decker as the starter come the end of August.

the way the O-Line plays sometimes, they made need a QB in there who can make something out of a broken play.

What is it with you guys pulling QBs out of your a$$? Every time we'd knock out your starter some guy in the stands would pull on a jersey and come out and open a can of whoopa$$ on us - sucks that you couldn't hold on in Cedar Falls and go on to play us last fall in the playoffs...

I think the most easily exciting thing was the mention of the DL prospects that will be ready for the season. Steve Young, Jordan Long and TJ Taylor all over 280? John Murray and Brian McNally at 250? That's nice. By sheer size that's a much, mcuh better defense.
