Progress springing for State

San Marcos — The buzzword surrounding the Texas State football season this spring is "progess." After last season’s 4-7 record, the Bobcats are keen to improve upon where they lacked.

Texas State’s biggest hole last season was on the defensive side of the ball. The Bobcats’ defense was non-existent, giving up yards and points by the bushel. Central Arkansas put up 63 points on Texas State and three games later, Nicholls State scored 52.

The Bobcats allowed 190 rushing yards per game as the defensive line was overpowered. During Friday afternoon’s intra-squad scrimmage, Texas State’s run defense looked solid.
