The seven-year run of football coach Jerry Kill left Southern Illinois with the first Gateway Conference championships in the school’s history and trips to the playoffs each of his last five seasons. His departure in December to coach Northern Illinois, however, also left the Salukis claiming he owes the school nearly $58,000 under his old contract.
Now Kill has filed an action in Jackson County Court seeking to have language in that contract declared illegal and an unreasonable penalty.
