Good ole Kent Schmidt wrote about the "reincarnation" of Lamar football.

Glad to see him giving coverage to the program and putting it out there that Lamar is making the steps necessary to add a football program (even if some of their fans think they are hopping right into C-USA)...

The addition of football has been a big subject as of late with quite a few schools (i.e Campbell, South Alabama, Old Dominion, etc) doing the trick and a few others (i.e Georgia State, UTSA, Lamar, etc) making the steps to get on the field...

Here's Kent's read...

Southeastern Louisiana played two seasons as an independent and played nonscholarship and lower-level teams to begin its schedule. It also played a couple Southland opponents, too. It took about three years for the Hammond, La., school to get its first team on the field after it was decided to bring the team back (the Lions last had played in 1983 and started again in 2003).

We actually played until 1985 before dropping the program for 18 years. xreadx Those last two years were pretty bleak though
