It takes a little time to get your classes in sync after moving up and having more scholarships. That 1st year we lost like 22 seniors. Not sure about last season. Looks like 14 seniors on the roster for 2008.

We're still going to be "young" for a while.:D

I think he is a good pickup. Here's what I know about Summers. He ran into trouble his freshman year. He was placed on six months probation after an arrest for disorderly conduct at an apartment complex in 2006. But it appears he has stayed out of trouble since. He was moved to wide receiver and redshirted last off-season. He just ran into a numbers game at Mississippi State. Croom has upgraded his roster.

That is the same way I heard the story also Mr. Tiger, with this addition;

Miss. St. wanted to move him to wide receiver (due to roster, depth or whatever) and he wanted to stay on defense.

I met him yesterday and he seems like a very nice young man. According to the people I talked to he really has been in no trouble since the incident last year.

I met all of the "mid-year" transfers yesterday. They just look more athletic than what we have been getting.

UCA has always gotten good skill people but we have just recently began getting some real "athletes".

Lot's of freshman and sophmores started last year. We will benefit for the next few years b/c of our early growing pains last year. We did suprisingly well for having such an inexperienced Defense. We are gunning for the title this year!!!!

"Anthony Summers, a safety from Olive Branch, Miss., transferred to Central Arkansas from Mississippi State after one too many position changes in Starkville, Miss.
Summers was rated as a fourstar recruit by Rivals.com before signing with the Bulldogs in 2005. He played in 11 games as a freshman with Mississippi State before redshirting his sophomore season in 2007.
After he was asked to switch to receiver before his sophomore season, he decided to change schools.
“I just didn’t want to go down that road,” Summers said. “So I talked to my high school coach about what he thought I should do.”
Summers’ coach said he might want to come to Central Arkansas, where Summers’ cousin Anthony Gambles was already on the roster as a cornerback.
“I thought it would be a good chance to get some playing time and go back to safety,” Summers said.
In fact, Conque hadn’t even talked to Summers before the junior showed up in Conway with his mother in tow.
“I was saying goodbye to a high school recruit and his family when Anthony and his mother came walking in my door,” Conque said."

Nothing as of yet. I guess schedules are made year by year so who knows until later this year. But it would be a fantastic rivalry! It's hard to really compete as a good FCS team when you're in transition from Division II, but I think Coach Conque and the staff have done a great job of recruiting and picking great opponents like SDSU, Missouri State, UC Davis, and all the great Southland teams. I know I am biased, but for 2 years straight UCA has been just 2 last second scores from being 8-3 both years! Not bad for a young FCS team. But it only gets harder and of course...UCA is getting better playing better competition! Thanks! xthumbsupx

I believe the schools are planning on resuming the rivalry when our schedules get freed up. Attendance was great at both games I believe.

We play you guys in baseball this year. I hope we are able to add you guys in basketball as well.
