Hen's don't kick off 'til Saturday. Assuming tickets are selling well in Carbondale. Hope to tie in some posters who don't have teams in the final 4. Villanova (Long & Westbrook), Chattanooga (T.O.), who else? Any Delaware fans disagree with?

Delaware All Time
QB: Rich Gannon (2nd Joe Flacco...3rd Andy Hall) 4th Scott Brunner
RB: Daryl Brown (2nd Omar Cuff...3rd Germaine Bennett)
WR: Eddie Conti (2nd Jamin Elliott...3rd David Boler)
TE: Ben Patrick...only 1 year though (2nd Robbie Agnone...3rd ?)

Quirkies -
Best Family: Mulhern's (mom should have had more)
Biggest Win: Navy 1985 (probably doesn't match App St. over Mich.)
Worst Game: Colgate 2003 (close until kickoff)
Big Play Maker: Sidney Haugabrook

RB: Adrian Peterson (last season '01), Jermaine Austin (last season '05)
WR: Corey Joiner (last season '98), Chris Johnson (last season '00)
TE: what's a TE?

Quirkies -
Biggest Win: Furman 1985...huge comeback and it was the beggining of a glorious future
Worst Game: semi-final 2001 loss to Furman

Tough to say with a lot of them....and I'm sure other Griz fans might disagree, since I personally am not old enough to remember a lot of older players.

QB - Mr. Legend of the Fall, Super Dave xlolx
RB - Yohance Humphrey
WR - Jimmy Farris

DB - Trey Young
DL/DE - Boy....too tough to call....
K - Clutch Carpenter (Despite his last kick, he'll always be "clutch")

Biggest Win - NC 1995, or MSU 1997
Worst Game - MSU 2002 I've never felt worse after any game.

I'm sure other Griz fans can fill in any holes I left out. xthumbsupx

Some of your choices I agree with, others should be filled with older players, e.g.:

WR - Joe Douglass (his seasonal totals dwarf Jimmy Farris', he only had two seasons with Griz, though, so his career numbers weren't as good--as much as I liked Jimmy)

DB - I'd have to go with Hitter Hauck here, or even Vince Huntsberger, both of whom were 2-time Big Sky Defensive Players of the Year

I'd also add--

OL - Scott Gragg - Lurch was dominant in I-AA, and carried that through to a long NFL, Pro Bowl career.

I'll take a shot at the Dukes:

QB - Justin Rascati
RB - Curtis Keaton
WR - Gary Clark
OL - Matt Magerko
DL - Charles Haley
LB - Akeem Jordan (the best I've seen in person. Prior to about '95 I'm clueless on LBs)
S - Tony Lezotte
PR/KR - Delvin Joyce
K - Scott Norwood (okay, so I have no idea about his stats, but he's our only kicker to go NFL - and what a career...)

Okay, so after looking at my list, almost all of these are '97 or later (except for the obvious ones).

Good call on Perry and Garner. I think Nelson still plays in the AFL or AFL2. Perry was the Dolphins long snapper for MANY years.

I thought about Lloyd, but went with Jordan. I thought he was a bigger force even though Lloyd won the Buchanan. I would go with Lloyd as 1A.

SDSU

QB Ted Wahl 85-88 most likely, but 2nd & 3rd Toss up Dan Fjedheim and Brad Nelson had some good years

RB Easily "The Little Ball-O-Hate" Josh Ranek 1997-2001 6,533 Career Yards Rushing, holds virtually every rushing record at SDSU, 1,881 as a FRESHMAN!, 2,055 as a Senior, oh and I have to put this in here 39 carries, 282 yards on NDSU in the FargoDome as a FRESHMAN!, Harlon Hill Finalist, Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and then shipped up to Canada after training camp for further development

WR Jeff Tiefenthaler 83-86 Harlon Hill Finalist, 2nd Josh Davis 02-05

TE Steve Heiden 95-98 Sure handed and excellent blocking TE for the Cleveland Browns, has led the Browns in receptions a few years, 2nd Chris Wagner 04-07 Possible NFL Draft Pick

K Parker Douglass 04-07 Possible NFL Draft Pick, 2nd Adam Vinatieri 91-94 Has played in 5 Super Bowls, won 4, 3 with the Patriots, 1 with the Colts. Two of which with the Patriots kicked the game winning field goals. Yes Parker has broken all of Vinatieri's records at SDSU.

McNeese
QB — Kerry Joseph (dual threat) 92-95, Stephen Starring (from the triple option era) about 80-83
FB — Luke Lawton (2000-03)
TB — Buford Jordan (early 80s...his son is the middle linebacker at SIU now)
TE — Chris Fontenot (94-97)
WR — Terence Davis (92-95), B.J. Sams (2000-2003), Jermaine Martin (last year I think was 2002).
Return Specialist — Steven Whitehead (active), B.J. Sams
OL — Reggie Nelson (95-97).

DE — Rusty Guilbeau (late 70s, early 80s), Kavika Pittman (92-95), Bryan Smith (05-07).
DT — Mike O'Haver (97-98), B.J. McNutt (00-03), High HM John Paul Jones (02-04).
LB — Terry Irving (91-94), Vince Landrum (92-95), Rod Royal (02-03).
Safeties — Zack Bronson (93-96), Leonard Smith (80-82), Hadley Prince (99-2002).
CB — Keith Smith (00-03), Del Lee (94-97).

K — Shonz LaFrenz (kicked McNeese to title game at Delaware in 1997...will always get extra credit for that).
P — Pat Neck (early 1990s...in era where McNeese HAD to win by playing field position, he was the best at placing punts inside the 20, plus he could boom them when he had to).

Some McNeese folks with longer memories could probably alter this list with more guys from the late 70s and early 80s during McNeese's Indy Bowl years. Maybe Bryan Hicks at safety, Keith Ortego at receiver, etc.

I think I can speak for most fans that opposed SDSU. I hated this guy. He was so low to the ground it was impossible to get him wrapped up and driven backwards. Only shot you had was to swarm the O-line and pinch him in. And most of the time that didn't even work.

Coach Darrell Mudra & Ron Erhardt

There was a great article in the Chicago Tribune last year profiling the coaching tree spawned by Darrell Mudra at Eastern Illinois. The number of NFL coordinators and head coaches who got their start under "Doc V" - either via direct hire or being hired by one of Mudra's hires after he left - is amazing for an FCS school.

Someone else earlier in the thread mentioned former GSU QB Tracy Ham. He was easily one of the most athletic, and dominant, FCS offensive players I can remember. UNI played GSU in the dome in the quarterfinals in '85 or so, and he single-handedly beat us in a shootout

I played DE in that game. We lost our starting DT in the EWU quarterfinal game and had to start a true freshman. It could have been a different game if we had him. It sucked going head to head against Ham. Besides Cap'n Cat xnodx , Ham was the best football player I've ever seen in my life. He was brilliant.

Its a generational thing, Beasley is ASU's all time leading WR by maybe 100 yards over Fowlkes. How about some old school consideration? HAHA.

Fowlkes would fit better in todays offense. The game was a lot different in '78-80.

They are all good choices...Now let me think of some old school O Linemenxcoffeex

I look at some of the players I have from the eras that I've seen — guys like O'Haver and Reggie Nelson who were a little unsung — and I know there are guys like that from previous eras...

Who was that running back in the 1950s who put up a ton of yards in just two seasons?

I don't know about the 50's but in the early 70's they had a DB named Rock Fournet that hit so hard they gave him a black helmet and of course everyone else wore gold. xnodx

Your'e joking about Germain Bennett and David Boler Right?

Matt Nagy? He used to hold all the records and played at UD for 4 years.

Not joking. Bennett was a back that gave us balance in 2003 (Jenkins was also good). I have not seen catches like Bolers since he played. He dropped some easy ones or he could have been higher.

I'm always bad at trying to remember these things. I do like your list though. Couple of possible additions:

TE- Ed Perry?
P- Nelson Garner?
LB - Derrick Lloyd ~ 2001 Buck Buchanan Award Winner

To break the tie at LB, I've got to go with Akeem Jordan. He was an absolute beast when he was at JMU and will be a huge force in the NFL in a few years (too bad he's playing for the f'n Eagles...).

Seeing Norwood on there makes me cringe...

Alright, I sat down and tried to do this and determine the best at each posistion (I kept it post 1993 era since I didn't know what football was until then). It was impossible for me to choose 1 person for a lot of positions (D-Line especially) so i just did a post '93 All-Time Montana team basically. I probably missed more than a few people that deserved to be on the list.

QB: Dave Dickenson
RB: Yohance Humphery
RB: Lex Hilliard
WR: Joe Douglass
WR: Jimmy Farris
WR: Etu Molden
WR: Matt Wells
TE: Willie Walden
TE: Dallas Neil
OL: Scott Gragg
OL: Thatcher Szalay
OL: Dylan McFarland
OL: Chase Raynock
OL: Cory Proctor

DL: Andy Petek
DL: Mike Murphy
DL: Kroy Beirman
DL: Tim Bush
LB: Jason Crebo
LB: Adam Boomer
LB: Dan DeCoite
CB: Calvin Coleman
CB: Tuff Harris
FS: Trey Young (have to give props to Blaine Mcelmurry too)
SS: Vince Huntsberger

K: Dan Carpenter
P: Tyson Johnson
Return: Levander Segars

Coach: Don Read
Best Game: 1995 vs Marshall
Worst Game: probably 2002 vs Cats, first time in my life we lost to them

Shellin,

Do you realize that all your d-lineman are your small pass rushing ends for the last 10 years? Would love to run against that line up! Not picking on you. What you picked is a very good bunch of players. As for DT, who is your top? I would think Tilleman or Sienze (sp, can't remember how to spell his name).

Yea, I do realize that they are all DE's, also all of my offensive linemen are tackles. I guess i kinda just followed suit with what they do with the FBS all-american teams (this year they have 4 OTs and 1 center), and yes, if i were to choose a DT i would probably select Alan Saenz.
