View Full Version : Game Times Announced!

I have recently learned that Wofford is going to host next week against Richmond and I want to know what time kickoff is going to be. I have Duke v. Davidson basketball tickets for Saturday at Noon and want to know if I have to sell or if I get to go to both games. I would think that Wofford could get a later game being that we are going to be in the warmest climate. Please let me know if anyone knows.

Times will be based more on working out TV schedules than climate. Don't look for times until all games are over and the TV games are set.

I hope the NCAA has the sense to give the Salukis a day game. There is a basketball game Saturday night in Carbondale with the Hoosiers that is already sold out. If they try to schedule a night game there, the crowd will be pretty thin.

glad the southern conference, and particularly wofford, will get a home game. if mcneese loses AND wofford beats richmond, app state could get another three games at home in the playoffs. AMAZING!!

Those are probably EST times, if there is a game in the central, pacific, or mountain times it wouldn't be that late.

Maybe, maybe not. It seems to me that Wofford wants to host as much as it can and will bid accordingly. I know App has a bigger stadium, but I think Wofford would rather run it back again at Gibbs. Wouldn't App like an opportunity to prove itself at Gibbs?

bids and stuff were submitted before the first game. I doubt seriously the NCAA would pass on the Kidd-Brewer cash cow.

ESPN might as well broadcast the UMass@SIU game, they will already be in Carbondale for the men's basketball game.

Anyways if the NCAA is smart they will put that game on at 2:30. Attendance will be better in the afternoon, because of the aformentioned basketball sell out.

1) Wofford WILL NOT outbid appalachian for a home game
2) We wouldnt care where we won, as long as we won.
3) I dont care what time the game is as long as its not 12 again.
4) Atleast this round ESPN can't show any sorry games.
5) Id like to see a UNI game from the dome
6) The NCAA isnt smart, so dont expect to much out of their planning
7) As for ESPN, see number 6

Would make sense if EWU was hosting. But if they outbid App State (given their average attendance of just over 5500, compared to ASU's 27000....)

my guess is that the TENTATIVE starting times will be adjusted.
the late game will most likely be UD @ UNI, starting at 6:30 central / 7:30 eastern.

Give the UMass @ SIU game a noon/1pm or a 1pm/2pm start and the other two games spaced out in the afternoon/early evening.

Per game? Or for the whole season?
IIRC DirecTV lets you purchase individual games for a fee...nowhere near $79.95

For example, an NFL game is $44.99 per game but the whole season I think is $249.

Regarding the folks in Washington, with all due respect, the NFL runs the majority of their games at 1 pm, which is 10 am PST, plus there are a lot of college games on the east coast that start at noon EST, so they're used to watching football early.

I agree with that perspective. I would also rather play later on Saturday but I'm just glad that ASU is still playing. The reality is that the bigger the game then the more likely that TV will dictate the gametime. BCS schools deal with TV dictating gametimes regularly.

No kidding.

Far and away the longest trip for all the schools remaining, and across 3 time zones. Why couldn't they have the early game between schools from at least the same time zone? The earliest we have played a game in recent memory is 12 Mountain Time. I wonder if the committee will pay for an extra night's lodging so we can acclimate and let the jet lag wear off?

Why the commotion over the noon start time? Most all of the Griz games always started then, is it not common place back east?

Gotcha. I don't think the "early" start will bother EWU, just their fans :)

If anyone from EWU will be here Thursday we've got Wichita State at home. With all of the playoff commotion our basketball team flies under the radar this time of year.

Agreed... But, no offense to Houston and the boys for this time of year has this not become normal? Our Maketing group has been trying to tie basketball into football for a couple years attempting to capture some of that magic (free roundball tickets to football season ticket holders, heavy promotion to roundball games, etc...) Can't blame them - they've had some great seasons - just not as much publicity (or success) as the grid iron boys.

This is the playoffs! To be the best, you have to beat the best! xthumbsupx

Sat forecast for Cedar Falls is 26 and partly cloudy. Coldest day of the week. but, should be nice for tailgating for an early afternoon game. We don't get many of those.
BTW, game conditions will be 72, no wind and LOUD

You ain't kidding!

I guess I don't mind the 1 PM start time...there's a Bball game in McLeod that night, but still...ugh!

Of course Delaware might be slightly jet-lagged, so that couldn't hurt. xthumbsupx

Please let me know if anyone knows.

where is the Duke games...if it is in durham you will have to sell no matter the time. it takes 3 hours to drive to Sparkle city. If it is in Charlotte 1 hour. My guess is you are not going to both.
