1) North Dakota State lost. Waiting for the apologies to flow for those of you who said they're suppose to be in the top 5 of the rankings. I'd also like an explanation on why NDS doesn't participate in the playoffs. Are they on probation? xwhistlex

2) Neither Dayton or Albany deserve a bid to the NCAA tourney. But we did get the highest mid-majors #19 Dayton vs. #31 Albany in the GiC game. I'm very happy about that. It would be permissible to print the game programs as a FCS mid-major national championship game under both Don Hansen's and the Sports Network definitions of mid-major. I approve and would encourage that. xcoffeex

There should be a morning parade with both the Dayton and Albany bands and cheerleaders involved. There should be flashpots and fog for both teams to run thru during player introductions. Do it up right. Both schools laborers need turn this into a Super Bowl game for the fans.

If you don't count non-FCS games your system will forever be meaningless, you can't throw out that many games.

Again, your rankings have no no validity unless your criteria for ranking teams were values actively shared by the college football community. The reality right now is a win over an FBS team does help. A power rating system that does not acknowledge that is useless in a practical sense because it does not jibe with reality.

It is only useful as a hypothetical. IF the FCS valued what you value (only games vs. FCS, as an example) here's how they WOULD BE ranked. If the rankings were going to be based on your value system, it would alter how people schedule. But since they don't, your ranking system is pointless in a practical sense.

I really really really want to know what it is with your system that would rank grambling ahead of Montana, McNeese, SIU etc..

There is absolutely NOTHING about Grambling now or in the past that would begain to have any poll/model ( maybe a blind dart throwing contest) come to that conclusion.

If you have anything at all please share it with us. Otherwise your rankings remain bogus and a waste of time.xconfusedx

I'd also like an explanation on why NDS doesn't participate in the playoffs. Are they on probation? xwhistlex

Because they can't; they're still in the transition period from Div II and therefore not playoff eligible until next year.

Another bonehead decision set forth by the NCAA.

I could understand if a school went backwards and was ineligible but not forward.

Makes no sense to me.

Maybe the NAIA should be the association of choice? xcoffeex

No one wants to see the Super Bowl fanfare for this game coming up?

What's up with you Albany and Dayton fans? xmadx

For crying out loud it's a national championship game!

you really must have never spent a day on here have you...

it is not a bonehead move by the NCAA there would be problems with teams moving up and down if they didnt have that rule... it is a good rule and ndsu knew about it when they made the change...

The fact that NDSU lost a game does not necessarily mean NDSU is not a top 5 team. In fact, I suspect that when the next set of "average" rankings come out at http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare1aa.htm the Bison will still be in the top 5 on average.

In Sagarin's ratings, NDSU only dropped to third after the loss. And, for now, I look at Sagarin's ratings as more credible than those we're discussing here. I haven't done some kind of comparative evaluation of performance, but Sagarin's ratings appear, at first glance, to be more consistent with the "averages." The latest set of averages hasn't come out yet. But, for example, Sagarin had NDSU rated at 2nd last week while the average for the Bison was 2.46. Meanwhile Sagarin had Grambling rated at 23rd as compared to an average of 24.51 and Delaware State rated at 34th as compared to an average of 27.77.

Anyway, I think the burden is kind of on you to demonstrate based on some performance related measure that your system, though apparently being out of the "mainstream" in ranking teams like Grambling and Delaware State so highly, should be considered to be a more accurate index of how good teams are and/or what they've accomplished than other power rating systems that 1) have them ranked in positions that appear more plausible to fans who follow FCS closely and 2) are consistent with the "mainstream" of ranking systems overall.

Course we'll get a suggestion as to whether your ranking system is more close to being correct on Delaware State than most others are starting next week.

Boogs,
It seems there is so much that you don't know about FCS football and your little system is a reflection of that ignorance. Wait a couple of years after hanging around here and you might begin to get a clue about this whole many-angled thing. Until then thanks for the comic relief you and your ranking system provide!!!xlolx xlolx xlolx xnodx xnodx xnodx xrotatehx xrotatehx xrotatehx xthumbsupx xthumbsupx
