Good luck Ace-- Classy posters...classy team...great game today!

I gotta say, a bit disappointed the NEC didn't find a way to get this one televised!

I expect a cold-weather, shove it down your throat, old-school donny-brook.

NOW CCSU, GO GET YOUR SHINE BOX! ;)

Dane96

Bocanegra with the fair catch...Albany up 7, driving from their own 14!

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:28 AM
McCarty, the workhorse...gain of 5. Lots of small scuffles and physical play after the whistle.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:28 AM
First Down, Dave McCarty.

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:29 AM
'96, are you enjoying the pace of the game as much as I am? These teams are just trying to run the football down the others throat...right now UA is very successful.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:30 AM
Yeah...this is old school football. These guys are going to be very sore. It is a game of "my 11 against your 11...let's throw down and see who comes out."

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:31 AM
David McCarty with another first down...huge gain off the left-side. 14 yard gain. McCarty with 7 rushes and 56 yards...and we are not out of the first.

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:31 AM
man, McCarty has 50 yards already...he really should win offensive player of the year

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:32 AM
He will. No way Butler (great year) gets it with the level of competition that McCarty faced.

UA is impressive so far. If you continue to run it like this we are in trouble.

I actually wish CCSU would go back to running and forget about passing.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:32 AM
FUMBLE--- High snap. CCSU with the recovery.

Big play for CCSU-- Albany was driving all over them.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:33 AM

INTERCEPTION UA!!!!! CCSU being very careless with this football

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:35 AM
It seems CCSU is either disorganized with protection schemes...or Albany is just full bore ahead with the front 7.

PICKED OFF BY CASALE AT THE 4!

aceinthehole
November 17th, 2007, 11:35 AM
We can't throw! Just stop it. We need to run it and if UA can stop us, then you're the better team.

I'm fed up already!

Dane96

McCarty with another tough run. 10 carries for 71 yards in the first....OMG!

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:38 AM
10 carries, 71 yards for McCarty already...it will be a special moment for me when (and I fully expect when) he breaks Gary Jones career rushing record. Jones was one of the first UA players I got to witness at my time at UA as "a game changer"

Dane96

The program is in great shape. On Senior day, we have just 3 of them that start and 6 that are impact players.

We need a new offensive schemes. We need to get a passing QB to platoon with Norris next season. And the defense, needs to play every game!

Esposito isn't a stud, but he is the best QB I have seen UA have throwing wise in the 5-years I have been a fan

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:45 AM
That is very true! Our last GOOD QB before him was Joe Savino...kid was nasty...can't believe he was a DIII and DII QB.

WWII
November 17th, 2007, 11:46 AM
I'm amazed at the number of times we stop ourselves by passing the ball, when the other team is struggling to stop the run.

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:46 AM
and you just said it '96...Savino was the best QB we have had...AND THAT WAS WHEN WE DIDN'T PLAY D-I FOOTBALL!!!

Bazan was the last good QB, but he had the wheels to make the option that Ford loves to play work. Only problem is, no arm, so when we played a good run-D, we did nothing

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:47 AM
Lynch with the punt-- bad one....CCSU with the ball on their own 32.

That has been the missing piece at Albany the past few seasons.

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:48 AM
I got to admit I am a little annoyed how Roger Wyland is making it seem ok if UA doesn't come away with a victory...FORGET A SHARE OF THE TITLE, COACH FORD AND FANS DON'T WANT IT!

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:49 AM
Rodger--- Serves his purpose. Other than that...he is a fool.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:50 AM

That has been the missing piece at Albany the past few seasons.

it is the truth. Ford loves the option play, which is cool. But I think you need to also be able to throw it down field. Esposito, while he can't do it all the time, is the best player to show that ability since Savino

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:52 AM
I need UA to win this...my goal was to wear my 2002 NEC Title shirt to the basketball game tonight, hahaha

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 11:52 AM
Actually, it isn't specifically an option...but a multiple offense. His TRUE option days ended when we got throttled by Ithaca (I think) back in the mid-90's.

Total Yards:

Albany 204
CCSU 17

McCarty- 12 for 133 (adjusted it).

McCarty COULD break 250 if we keep giving it to him.

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 11:58 AM
i think the only sad thing about the UA season is that they had only 4 homes games. However, next year we should be stacked with home games, especially in NEC play

GD84
November 17th, 2007, 12:04 PM
that sched is fair to me, 1/2 home and 1/2 away. I was thinking that all the non-conference but 1 would be at home. That Duquesne game also was the one I couldn't get...appreciate it '96. I am going to have to take my dad to the Hofstra game (him being a Hofstra Alum and me a UA Alum)

Well its clear who the better team is.

The question is will CCSU give up and end on this sour note, or will they come out in the 2nd half and play like they have nothing to loose.

No postives from my perspective, although I will say 3 TD is not a huge lead. It very possible to make a comeback and answer the deficit, althought right now there is no evidence so far to think its very likely.

Weare is classy...and well-spoken. Says we are awaiting our auto-bid...and the GIC is just the standby until then.

She has been working on the auto, making tremendous strides with our non-conference wins...gave her ammo to ask NCAA Governing Committee for a bid out-right...plus pushing the fairness aspect.

Hoping the funding proposal moves forward to the next level.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 12:28 PM
Loves Dr. McElroy and Bob Ford's scheduling. The NCAA told them that we needed to toughen up the schedule. Praising Albany and CCSU for playing A) LARGE MID-MAJORS; TOUGH FCS LEAGUES; and CCSU going to Western Michigan.

Needs the rest of the conference to step up.

This is our second year of scholarship kids...so we aren't even loading up yet on the talent.

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 12:29 PM
Other commisioners from other leagues have noticed...and like it. As for scholarships, we are sticking at 30 for now...testing the waters...HOWEVER...the schools are now using scholarships for good athletes and BETTER ACADEMIC STUDENTS! This is a selling point to the schools to add more rides.

The kid is ridiculous. 18 for 195 and a TD.

I am not sure why we sat him for 7 minutes in the 2nd (we did the same versus Wagner).

Woohoo.
Good score to come home to.

Didn't make it up rt 84 today. Unfortunately.

Sounds like a good first half.

That's the game :(

If we would have run on our last possesion (3rd and 7 from the UA 35), we would have been back in it. If we could have got it to 21-14, it could have been huge.

This sucks!

Hey...we should chat...I am definitely coming in for it with my roommate and a guy who used to play football at Siena (but hates the school and will be rooting for the Danes-- His step-brother is Mark P. from the track team).

What a horrible way to end the season (last 3 games). Good luck in the GIC, represent the NEC well.

Congrats guys Albany!! Go win the GIC!!!

BTW, don't be so sure McCarty is a lock for Offensive POY. Sinisi has double the touchdowns (17 rush, 2 receiving, 2 passing) that Mccarty does. This includes today's games and the yards per game is going to be almost even!! Of course, you guys are conference champs and played a tougher schedule than we did so it is going to be very close!!!

Dane96
November 17th, 2007, 01:24 PM
I gotta say, with this size victory...we PROBABLY would have gotten a very good shot at the playoffs had we beaten Colgate.

Really sad. Fact is, we are only one of 5 teams to go through the NEC undefeated...EVER!

No team got within 18 points of the Danes in Conference. We have also outscored our opponents by 30+ so far in conference.

JMG1MON
November 17th, 2007, 01:25 PM
Of course, both teams are just giving both guys garbage time yards/tds!!!

I'm just a little upset I didn't make the trek, but after hitting New Britain on Wednesday for thr UA-CCSU basketball game, and with the opener tonight, I wasn't about to push my luck with the little lady.

As for that at-large bid, is a perfect storm brewing? Looking good so far...

That's true, but it's hard to stream EVERY game at once. It's easier to come here and follow the posted updates.

I think that depends on you definition of smack. Boogs start a thread about Dayton and Albany yesterday, but since we don't have a "Lame Board" here he posted it on the Smack Board. Nobody has reponded on it yet.

He has been working on these "rankings" for four years now...and disappeared from Don Hansen boards to work on them.
