The Autoqualifiers:

1Montana
2UNI
3Del St
4EKU
5Fordham
6Wofford
7McNeese St
8UMASS(assuming a win vs Hofstra)

At Large:

Locks:

9Delaware
10Richmond
11SIU
12App State

In(assuming wins):
13JMU(home vs 3-7 Towson)
14EIU(home vs 4-6 Samford)
15EWU(home vs 5-5 Weber St)

16Even if GSU loses are they in at 7-4 because

Hofstra would be 7-4 and a very unlikely 5th from the CAA
New Hampshire same as Hofsta at 7-4
Alabama A & M won't get in
Colgate won't get in even at 8-3
Norfolk State won't get in at 8-3
The only competition is Youngstown State, but I beleive GSU gets the nod

Thoughts?????

GSU won't have 7 DI wins if they lose.

I believe (not sure) GSU wouldn't have 7 DI wins... a requirement.

I hope Georgia Southern does get in, and somehow we can get a rematch! Hopefully, if we did, the game would not be in Statesboro, but I bet it would. xbangx

Both YSU and GSU have only 6 D-I wins.
GSU would get to 7 with a win over an FBS school this week.

who is number 16 then

You'll end up with:

Hofstra at 7-4
UNH at 7-4
Alabama A&M at 9-2 (assuming win)
Colgate at 8-3 (assumnig win)
Norfolk State at 8-3 (assuming win)
Albany at 8-3 (assuming win)
Dayton at 10-1 (assuming win)

I'd take UNH at 7-4 with an FBS win and arguably the toughest CAA conference schedule, but I'm not sure the committee will. Tough call here.

I think GSU will defeat a bad Colorado State team and make it all a mute point.

my guess would be Colgate..

There is no " official " 7 win requirement. It is used only as a quide when selecting teams. With that being said if we lose we are out.

Hofstra at 7-4
UNH at 7-4
Alabama A&M at 9-2 (assuming win)
Colgate at 8-3 (assumnig win)
Norfolk State at 8-3 (assuming win)
Albany at 8-3 (assuming win)
Dayton at 10-1 (assuming win)

That is tough...I'd guess your debate is between UNH and Colgate there. Dayton, Alabama A & M and Norfolk State probably played too weak of a schedule, and Colgate would probably have to get it over Albany on the head-to-head. Hofstra played a so-so schedule for a CAA team. UNH might have the best resume out of the group, but the committee would be breaking new ground to have a team that is 4-4 in conference.

my guess would be Colgate..

Why?

Colgate:
Big Wins: Albany?
Bad Losses: Cornell

UNH:
Big Wins: Marshall, Delaware, Hofstra
Bad Losses: Northeastern

Just kidding. You're probably right, but I hate that it comes down to a counting game.

Nothing is ever a "mute" point around here. xlolx

BTW, for some reason or another this thread has laid out the possibilties to me clearer than any other.

I'll throw out another one for you....

What if the same scenario as above, but Colgate loses. So you'd have:

Hofstra at 7-4
UNH at 7-4
Alabama A&M at 9-2 (assuming win)
Colgate at 7-4
Norfolk State at 8-3 (assuming win)
Albany at 8-3 (assuming win)
Dayton at 10-1 (assuming win)

Now I think UNH gets in.

The commitee seems to prefer 3 losses over 4 even with a somewhat weaker schedule. Therefore is likely to take someone from the MEAC/SWAC/PL/OVC with 3 over a 4 from the CAA/SoCon/BSC/Gateway/Southland.

Since the statement about 7DI wins, the committee has been more strongly adverse to a 6DI win team than to a 4 loss team.

The committee may still include the NEC with the PFL/MAAC.

That would leave two choices Colgate and Alabama A&M.

I'm not saying who should be in, just trying to read the committee.xpeacex

I'm torn about whether to root for GSU. I'd like to see them get the chance to play, but I think if they are out, it significantly helps our chances of a 1st round home game.

I believe gsu will go out to colorado and take the 16th spot away from everyone else... they are a good footall team

Im hoping Hofstra beats UMass and gets in the Playoffs----so Fordham can spank them in the 1st round.. :)

I tend to agree, especially after looking up the committee members:
Lafayette and UMass AD's represent the East on the Committee, although Ron Ratner (NEC Assoc. Commish) sits on the Eastern advisory committee.
