Bearkats Take On First Of Two I-A Foes At Houston Saturday

BEARKATS OPEN 90TH FOOTBALL SEASON WITH 77-7 WIN
Sam Houston State opened its 90th season of intercollegiate football with the third highest scoring output in school history. The Bearkats defeated Bacone College of Oklahoma 77-7. Sam Houston defeated Brooke Medical 83-0 in 1949 and Blinn 78-0 in 1916. The 77 points were the most by a Sam Houston team since the Kats moved up to the NCAA level in 1982. SHSU’s previous NCAA game high was 68 points against Mississippi Valley State during the Bearkats’ 2001 Southland championship season.
