Edwards sets new Grambling record for career receiving touchdowns
By Nick Deriso

Senior Grambling State receiver Clyde Edwards has set a new school record for career touchdowns.

Junior passer Brandon Landers hit Edwards on the visitors' sideline, and the Houston native raced 37 yards to score with 13:03 left in the first half of today’s homecoming game against Texas Southern. GSU led 28-0 at that point in the ongoing Southwestern Athletic Conference contest.

Edwards tied the school record on a 2-yard pass from Landers with 1:53 left in the first quarter, putting Grambling up by three touchdowns.

The previous GSU record, set by Jonesboro-Hodge product Scotty Anderson in a career ending in 2000, was 35 touchdowns.

This guy has been the quiet consistent playmaker since his freshman season. I recall reading a quote from Bruce Eugene discussing how he kept all the receivers and running backs happy. He commented that all of the players always came back to the huddle saying they were open or suggesting that they could beat their guy...all except Clyde. He said Clyde just remained calm and quiet...and caught everything thrown his way.

I always thought that Tramon Douglas was the best overall receiver in the modern era of GSU football (yes, Mach even better than Scottie Anderson), but I'm beginning to lean toward Clyde. Nope...still Tramon, but Clyde is close...VERY CLOSE.xthumbsupx

Very impressive. Looks like he has a good shot at playing on Sundays.
