"Gophers football coach Tim Brewster made it clear last week that he doesn't think his team should be playing North Dakota State.

Given what transpired Saturday, that's probably a good idea."

The defeat also made official what had become obvious: The Gophers (1-7) can't qualify for a bowl game. They will be home for the holidays for the first time since 2001.

So, they were 1-6 and they were still talking about qualifying for a bowl game? xlolx xlolx xlolx

There's at least 32 bowl games IIRC so yeah. That is what is so rewarding about playing at the FBS level. You can suck and still play in a bowl. xrolleyesx

The Gophers problems start with Brewster who is into what is in it for him, not the team. The trib also states that he is only interested in championships. There was no "team" in that statement. It is good to set goals, a championship being one of them, but don't belittle other achievements as not being worthy.

Minnesota gets all they deserve and then some for canning Glen Mason, the best coach they've had in decades.

Way to go Bison!!!

GO CATAMOUNTS!!!

Of course Mason deserved to go, which was obvious to everyone else. They were great against the MAC but not the Big 10. Unfortunately for Glen, they play in the Big 10

Wow, I live in the Twin Cities and get to listen to the tripe far too often but you hit the nail on the head! Brewster is a marketing guru who they brought in because Mason spent too much time at Hazeltine and not enough smooshing the boosters!! The team wins games the individual stands alone!!!

If I am not mistaken, all you need to qualify for a bowl game is 6-5 record.
