Sagarin can be hit or miss, but I'm usually curious as to where the FCS teams fall in this index. I included the overall rating (out of 242 DI teams) as a reference. Swap Yale and Montana, and you're pretty close to the AGS top 10, in no particular order.

(1) 53 North Dakota State
(2) 54 Northern Iowa
(3) 69 Appalachian State
(4) 72 Southern Illinois

(6) 84 Wofford
(7) 85 McNeese State
(8) 90 Yale
(9) 91 James Madison
(10) 96 Youngstown State
(11) 105 Montana
(12) 107 Hofstra
(13) 109 Delaware
(14) 111 Villanova

This shows why I put no stock in Sagarin for football. SD State is #21? Maybe based on SOS, but not results. They are (2-4)! They beat Texas State (1-5) and SFA (0-6), losing to WIU, YSU, UNI and GSU. What a resume!

Kind of interesting to see that the unbiased portion of the ratings (ELO_CHESS) has San Diego at (77).xreadx Higher than the majority of the other FCS teams in the top 25.xeekx

It's a computer rating, not a poll. As the season progresses, it tends to be more accurate as more data is added. It looks pretty good to me at this point.

In ELO-CHESS, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence, which makes it very "politically correct". However it is less accurate in its predictions for upcoming games than is the PURE POINTS, in which the score margin is the only thing that matters. PURE POINTS is also known as PREDICTOR, BALLANTINE, RHEINGOLD, WHITE OWL and is the best single PREDICTOR of future games. The ELO-CHESS will be utilized by the Bowl Championship Series(BCS).

Thanks. I think I like PREDICTOR better than two crappy beers and a 10 cent cigar.
