The Hofstra Towson game is the hardest to predict, IMO, and W&M and Maine are both really not that good so who knows in that game.

I think we give the Spiders just as much of a game as we did against Hofstra.
Being a Long Islander I will go with Hofstra over Towson.

I thought this would be the week UMass gets upset, but I heard that the Nova QB is out for the season. Sucks. They were rolling. I can't see them continuing without his spark. Especially with a true freshman taking the snaps.

That really stinks, he was quite a talent.

Didn't they just score 63 on W&M?? How/when did he hurt his knee?

I think he hurt it at halftime in the locker room tunnel. Then ruined it in the game in the 3rd quarter.

4-1 last week after a correctly picking 6 of 7 previous week.
This week:

Northeastern at Delaware. Delaware 42-21. Flacco & Cuff avoid 2nd CAA loss and move up in the rankings.

Villanova at UMass. UMass 24, Villanova 10. OOPS! I had this game 34-24 'Nova until I just heard about the Wildcat's great QB going down with a season-ending knee injury. UMASS will win over a suddenly reeling Villanova offense. Aside from scaring the heck out of FBS's BC (great game!), UMASS has managed to avoid top teams (or, at least, quality teams at full strength) in the FCS so far this season.

JMU at URI. JMU 45, URI 28. No more close calls in New England for the Dukes, although URI will score some points with their ground game.

W&M at Maine. Maine 24, W&M 20. Another upset, this one by the home team who salvages some of their season with a goalline stand late.

Hofstra at Towson. Hofstra 28, Towson 24. Towson narrowly misses yet another upset win. However, Hofstra scores late & the defense stays strong right to the end to stay undefeated heading in showdown with UNH.

Stony Brook at Richmond. Richmond 56, Stony Brook 14. Poor Stony Brook! Having to face a Richmond squad with the Spiders' playoff lives now on the line is not the best story line to have to endure. UR scores quickly and often en route to wiping away the sting of last week's game ending collapse.

Iona at UNH. UNH 56, Iona 17. Santos sits out, Tolman gains some experience for 2008, Defense moves people in & out to find some players. However, with Iona at 5-1 and scoring lots of points, Coach Mac better pull out the clippings from Ann Arbor, Huntington (WV), Ames (IA), Mt. Pleasant (MI), ............

Yes, played most of the game got hurt again in second half. No "official" verdict on the status of the injury yet. He was supposed to have a MRI yesterday. The Villanova board is saying he's out for the season, but nothing from the school yet.

Nova Coach Talley:

"We looked at them playing BC and you couldn't tell the difference between BC and UMass," Talley said. "Their players looked very, very comparable. It looked like two I-A teams playing each other. It's a daunting task. It would be as difficult a game as we have on our schedule."

Another Blue Hen fan omits WM/Maine.

I can't figure if you've kicked WM and UMaine out of the CAA for losing to Villanova. Or since the game is being played north of Boston it doesn't count because it's not in the continental United States.

@ UNH 56 Iona 17 (Even if without Santos UNH moves the ball almost at will against a Iona team that is 5-1 on a pathetic schedule)

@ Delaware 38 Northeastern 17 (A fired up UD team takes out their frustrations on a Northeastern team that isn't nearly as good on the road as they are at home).

@ UMass 31 Villanova 10 (No Young for Nova = no chance)

JMU @ 35 URI 10 (A fired up JMU team brings their A game after bringing their C game in last week's poor performance)

@ Towson 27 Hofstra 20 (The Dutchmen are exposed in this week's upset special)

W&M 31 @ Maine 27 (W&M's good offense makes up for their bad defense (as bad as Maine's offense is Maine at home should be able to put close to 30 against W&M).

Thats got to be the idiot pick of the year, as you were the ONLY non URI fan to pick URI (I can understand Cobblestone picking them, as they are his team). JMU only had 598 yards of total offense. Fumbled 3 times, once at the goal line out of the endzone for a touchback, and once at the 5. Otherwise, probably would have put up 58.

xlolx Well, besides the good natured ribbing, it looks like UD has put together a better D than last year's team, but I still haven't seen the Maze and Blue play well against, much less beat, a good team this season. Let's see how well the Hens perform against Navy, and if JMU gets past UR in two weeks at our Homecoming. If both teams come into the game with only one loss (saying UD beats Navy) I'd have to think the Hens will be favored.

But even if one (or both) of the teams stumble before we meet, the game looks to be special this year. Add in some motivation for the '06 blowout and the home field advantage, UD will be tough to beat. Let's hope UD's scoreboard works so we can keep track of the score! xlolx

Fair notice tho...this year's JMU edition is better than last year's squad...particularly because of Rodney Landers. If the Hens OL can protect Flacco, and give Cuff some room to run, maybe you'll outscore us. ;)

BDKJMU
October 14th, 2007, 12:29 AM
Yep, besides passing for 168 against URI, Landers rushed for 160 and is on pace for over a thousand yards rushing this season.
