The legendary, late Eddie Robinson coached his final game at the Cotton Bowl a decade ago, on Oct. 4, 1997.

"Long live Dallas and the football fans," Robinson said then. "I am aware of the fact Eddie Robinson has had a good life in football, and I am a lucky man."

Saturday, Dallas will honor Robinson's memory at the annual Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic between Prairie View A&M and Robinson's Grambling State.
....
Dallas mayor Tom Leppert will present Robinson's widow, Doris, with a ceremonial award during Saturday's pregame show. She will be escorted by former Grambling player and coach Doug Williams, the former NFL Super Bowl MVP.

The Grambling and Prairie View bands, best known for their halftime battles, will perform together before the game to honor "Coach Rob."

Is that in reference to the football score or the crowd responce to the respective band performances?

If football score, I have to agree. If band response, maybe not. Two great bands individually should be absolutely awe inspiring performing together! xnodx xnodx xnodx

I think Gram will pull away in the 2nd half. PV's offense isn't there yet, but their defense is improving.

Our offense this year is more balanced... the offensive line has been "slimmed down" to the 305-315 range and really doing a great job of run blocking for two true freshmen running back. We still pass it, but mostly intermediate stuff out of our West Coast Spread Offense. I was never a proponent of the Spread Offense, but so far Coach Spady (OC) has them really producing and moving the chains.

Glad to this game honoring Coach Robinson. This is still his program...just Broadway's team! xnodx

I'm glad to see the SFC and the city of dallas step up to honor the great man!

However, I feel sorry for everyone w/ the "G" on their chest in the stands because they will not leave happy. :) This is the BEST chance we have @ victory considering the new staff that Gram has, so let the chips fall where they may.

Coach PROMISED us that we will NOT leave after half-time. I EXPECT to see some pretty good football being played.xreadx PV wins.
