I will be attending my first WIU game this coming weekend with my brother (the poor sap graduated from WIU). I tried to convince him to wear my CCU football jersey, but he said something to the effect of hell freezing over and the devil skating will happen before he wears that xnodx, so I am going to wear it. I told him I am going to wear my WKU hat, and he said he will make sure to visit me in the hospital after the WIU fans kick my ass. xeekx

Any fans from here going to the game?

I'll be there, it should be a big crowd this weekend. This is the first meaningful game at Hanson Field in a couple years. It will feel good to have that atmosphere again. I predict:

NDSU 34
WIU 20

It's called backlash.
Last year I was an NDSU fan, no longer.
Now, you're becoming less and less of a Montana fan....double backlash.
Go back to last year and see where it began.

WIU has a 32 game home non-conference winning streak going into this one. This would have me worried but.. correct me if I'm wrong but we went into GSU last year when they had a similar streak going. The rest is history.

I guess Ill miss it. 4 in a row for me.

Ill probably listen though. Running attack of WIU is good. Herb Donaldson is the guy we have to stop.

We also have to break through their tough pass defense.

Ive studied the game and pick the BISON by 2 TDs.

Gophers/Ohio State is on ESPN 2 saturday as well. Good chance for BISON fans to look at the Gophers. 7pm kickoff.

WIU would be in a good position to do that. They have a great place kicker. I think he has over 100 extra pts without a miss. He has never missed one as far as I know. He had a 50 and a 55 yarder last week.

Taylor Rowan (http://www.wiuathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=12000&ATCLID=631623)

I dont think it will be that close though. I can see NDSU trading the Leathernecks TDs for FGs. If we do that 3 or 4 times and win, its going to be very close to the 14 pt spread.

Tough road game, Bison coming off a big win last week. I have a gut feeling of a let down this week. NDSU's D-line has to win the trench fight or i think that SIU beats them in a close one. Whatever happens it should be a great game.

Getting back to the original thread, yes they will be tough at home. They have proved that with the games so far this year. Ask any SDSU fan and I think they would agree that WIU is no easy win at home or on the road.

Well the game is almost here so I will chime in. Last weeks the team played a much better game but still too much dirty laundry on the field. If we can eliminate turnovers and reduce the penalties we will be in good shape. I think it will be a fairly close game but in the end NDSU walks away with a win.

Unfortunately there is a small minority in every fan base that seems to do their very best to be a pain in the arse.

We expect our players to act with class but some of the fans do not know the meaning of class. It is called Sportsmanship and seems to be a concept many do not understand. Well, I drove up to Macomb from St. Louis last night for the game. There are a ton of people in town, and the weather is great so it should be a big turnout.

I know everyone seems to dislike WIU in this game, no one has predicted that WIU will win. But, looking at NDSUs schedule, I fail to find a quality win. If you remember, WIU played Eastern Michigan in 2003 and blew them out, and still lost two games in the Gateway that year. So, I have a hard time placing a lot of value on NDSUs Central Michigan win. Sam Huston is unproven, they might not be very good either, after all they almost got beat by Angelo State. The only good comparison is SFA, which WIU beat more soundly, and on the road. And, its homecoming here.

Western Illinois 35, NDSU 13.

You can't say they haven't played anyone...SDSU is a GOOD team, Illinois is the Big 10 sleeper, St. Francis is well.....St. Francis, and going on the road in the south against SFA is always tough.

With 2 DI wins, do they have a chance to make the playoffs? I think the autobid might be a stretch for WIU, but 5 more wins? If they lose to NDSU it probably isn't looking good to go 5-1 in the Gateway.

Its almost broadcast time. It promises to be a good one. Looking at the games with our common opponent, SFA, tells me that. We struggled and WIU had to come back.

The Leathernecks beat SDSU if 4 overtimes. Thats impressive. They know how to win. NDSU will have to play every down all 4 qtrs, but hopefully not 5 like the SDSU game.

If all BISON fans can keep their hats on, and that small contingent can keep their judgmental noses out of the air, they should have a good time.

Have a great homecoming and let the better team win.

Weber State's D is playing tough. Keeping the mighty Lex to under 3 yards per carry. The Griz have scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter to take a 15-10 lead.

I was at the game today. Sloppy on both sides and a few bad no calls. WIU forced a clear fumble on the NDSU qb and it was called down, WIU had a huge block in the back that they didn't get called for etc.

Nice place, but WIU isn't CCU. I need the beach. Too damn much corn!

Don't you live in Chicago?

Peems, yes I live about 15 minutes south of the city, and work downtown 6 days a week.

I am not sure if you are asking why the corn comment or why I have never been to a WIU game, so I will address both.

I am not sure if you familiar with the layout of the state or not, but you don't see much corn if you live north of I-80 and east of Aurora, which is where I live. There also isn't anything to do south of I-80 as well so I never have a reason to make a trip in that direction.

I have never been to a WIU game before b/c my brother and I were in college at the same time ( he is 6.5 years older than I am, but went to the Army right out of highschool), and since then I have either been busy with work, or had my own plans during his homecoming weekend. The only time I had been down there was when I was a Sr. in highschool and went to see a college campus for the first time, during his orientation. WIU is a nice campus, very big (compared to CCU). Their student center is larger then our largest building (Wall Business Bldg) by far!

The NDSU fans that I saw seemed pretty nice. I don't think there were any problems in the stands with fights, but I was on the opposite side of field from their fans (1st row 40 yard line - God bless general admission, he is my favorite general).

Made a road trip to Macomb and had a great time. Some observations:

No way there were 15,000 fans at the stadium.
Students left at half time and didn't come back.
Gateway refs some of the worst I've ever seen. (3 games of them)
Concessions sucked. It was 85 out and they ran out of water in the first quarter.
Their fans were nice and friendly.
We played okay but hardly as well as last week.
WIU is a good team but their qb throws the ugliest ball I've ever seen.

Gateway refs are among the worst in College Football. They always have to huddle to discuss every flag that is thrown and it delays the game, takes away momentum. They truly are bad and we have been saying it for years. Even when SIU sucked they were bad. Now that we are pretty good, they still suck.

I think they flew up to Minneapolis to ref the Vikings/Packers game on Sunday.

If I'm not mistaken, NDSU now uses Gateway refs for all of our home games. It really is a huge difference from last year when we were using BigTen refs. Last year's games were almost always called right and fast, after 2 home games and @WIU I can't say the same for these guys xnonono2x
