McNeese is still a mystery. Portland State looked pretty bad to me. I guess it oculd be a case where McNeese made the Vikings look bad but at this point I don't know.

I think we'll know a lot more about McNeese after they play Louisiana-Lafayette. I know ULL isn't Michigan, but the Cajuns played South Carolina tough and moved the ball very well. Most notably, they put up a lot of rushing yards while running the same style of offense that App State runs. They have a very fast QB and a very good running back.

Again, ULL isn't Michigan. But I think it's equivalent to a very strong playoff calbier FCS team. If McNeese is able to win that game in two weeks, I'll start to be fairly hopeful.

Indiana State with 10 votes? Really? I guess the coaches that voted were impressed by their 55-7 loss to Indiana on top of their one win over the past two years...with that one win being to my poor Bears, no less.

Interesting that Elon received more votes (albeit 4) than Citadel (2)... xconfusedx

More confused that either get votes at this point. What is more confusing to me is how Coastal and WSSU are getting votes in the SN poll.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess we will have to whip Wisconsin on Sept. 15th to get any votes!xeekx

It is purely an image thing and really means nothing except for creating talking points like this.

Elon received 0 votes in the SN poll to The Citadel 29.

Maybe the coaches are more impressed playing South Florida tough than beating a team that is still working to rid itself of the image of being a pushover (CSU). I don't think it slights you, just probably surface impressions of one day of play. Big deal, right?

Besides, the USA Today poll has always been crap where I-AA is concerned.

Some people are impressed with 'moral victories'....In Elon's case losing to South Florida, who is considered and 'up and comer' indicated that the Phoenix have a tough team.

This reminds me of something coach Ash said after our loss.

HEAD COACH ROB ASH: “We didn’t come here to play close. We lost by 31 points, so we didn’t accomplish what we wanted to. I told the team after the game that we don’t believe in moral victories. We came here with the intention of winning and fell short."
