UT Martin will have head coach Jason Simpson, Def. Co. and asst. head coach Chris Boone and Def. asst. coach Ferrell Trimm all going back home when they visit Southern Miss this Saturday. All three played for Southern Miss. Boone played defensive LB for Def Co. John Thompson who is now at Ole Miss. He also helped as a G.A. for both Thompson and coach T. Nix who is def. Co. for South Carolina. UT Martin was number 1 in several defensive categories in 2006. Boone is known for his "nasty" defense. (Just ask Jacksonville St. and EIU) Asst. coach F. Trimm was a quarterback at USM and is also known in Mississippi Jr. College ranks for his defensive coaching skills. Its going to be a homecoming for the 3 coaches facing their old head coach Jeff Bowers on the opposite sideline. (With much more depth I might add). Good luck UT Martin!!!

So i was looking this up, and i am very shocked. I forgot that Ohio played Southern Miss in the GMAC Bowl game. UTM also played Ohio last year. Here are the stats from the UTM Ohio Game CLICKY (http://ohiobobcats.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2006-2007/oh090206.html)
And here are the Stats from the Southern Miss Ohio Bowl Game CLICKY (http://ohiobobcats.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2006-2007/gmac.html)

The Ohio Game for us was a disaster, we turned the ball over inside the 5, 3 times i believe. I thought this game was going to be a blow out, and it may be, but seeing the stats between the teams, it should give Martin some hope to earn respect, correct?

That is correct however we lost 7 off defense and that was the highlight of the game. All of the offense is back and we are a year or two away from having the same if not better defense of 2006.
