In the GSU month thread it states the following:

"8/10

Georgia Southern has retired two numbers for football. The first was the #8 worn by Tracy Ham.

College Highlights:
- Led Georgia Southern to two Division I-AA championships (1985, 1986).
- The only player in college football history to rush for more than 3,000 yards and pass for over 5,000 yards.
- The only QB in I-AA history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in a single season.
- Had 14 100-yard rushing games in his career.
- Offense re-named "the Ham-Bone" during his tenure."

Ham is no longer the only 1-AA/FCS QB to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season, AE did so in 2006. I also look for AE to break 3,000 rushing yards and easily break 5,000 passing yards for his career. Hears hoping for a healthy 3 years for AE, we could witness something special if he does.

Barrick Nealy also rushed for over 1000 yards as qb in the 2005 season. Of course that included three playoff games.

So did GSU's Greg Hill, Chaz Williams, and Jayson Foster...

The key words that were left out were "at the time" or "up until that point" which was in the mid 80's.

Thank you for your input. I have changed the wording to say "the first".

Wofford hasn't had one since moving up to I-AA. But Shawn Graves, who played in the early 90's went of 1000 yards his first three seasons and almost did it again his senior year despite missing two games with an injury. In the end, he finished up at the all-time, all-division to rushing QB. I don't have the total close by, but it's about 5900 yds rushing for a career.

Nick Bazan rushed for 1000 yards for Albany in the 2004 season.

Travis Lulay is one of seven QB's to ever rush for over a 1,000 and throw for 10,000.

No wonder the Red Headed Houdini is reverred as a legend in the great town of Bozeman and by all MSU alums worldwide!

NDSU hasn't had any since moving up to the FCS, but we had a few good running QBs when the triple option was our bread and butter in D-II.

Chris Simdorn topped the 1,000 yard mark in 1988 and 1989. Jeff Bentrim hit 989 in 1984 and also averaged 1.8 rushing touchdowns per game throughout his career.

According to the Wofford website, Graves' total was 5129.

Jack Douglas, after he finished playing (1992) was the div.1-AA all time rushing QB leader with 3,674 yds. I don't know it that is still tops are not.

If AE stays healthy- he will break alot of records.xnodx xbowx

Edwards has the benefit of having playoff stats count. Was he even close to 1,000 at the end of the regular season?

Kevin Richardson gets some well-deserved press for scoring more touchdowns in one season than anybody in history. But he barely approached what Adrian Peterson did including the playoffs.

I think the NCAA should be ashamed--It's easily documentable that Peterson went over 9,000 yards in his career including the playoffs. That would be an almost unbreakable record unless the game changed drastically.

What is ridiculous is that they changed the rule to include playoff stats AFTER he graduated, but won't include his playoff yardage or stats.

I think that it is a shame that the NCAA hasn't modified the official records to include playoff stats where available. :(

Bucknell QB Daris Wilson rushed for 1149 yards in 11 games in 2004.

A sidenote on rushing QB's - - - In 2005, after losing three QB's to injury, converted Bucknell DB Dante Ross rushed for 258 yards vs Marist in his first game at QB. He also played DB in that game and returned kicks as well. Seldom left the field.

Jack Douglas is one of my all time Socon favorites. What a great player to watch in action!

I agree. And, while he's not a RB, Dave Dickenson's career stats would be much higher if playoff totals were included in his stats. As would Adrian Peterson, who played very well in the many playoff games in which he participated.

Considering Edwards didn't start or even play much at all until the third game of the season, it's about a wash. His first break-out game in rushing was against, appropriately, GSU.

so what QB's are capable of reaching 1000 yards this year...besides AE?
Our QB Lance Kriesien has a shot at getting close if the Jacks reach the playoffs

What about the rest of the country??

Jayson Foster gets it easily if he's the QB for GSU. He had 1500 regular season rushing yards 2 years ago.

No he didn't, and no one gets 1,000 yards easily.

He missed the 1500 mark by 19 yards. My bad, big Pete. Again, if Foster is our starting QB, he goes over 1000 by week 8.

The really sad thing is that he has less than HALF the amount of yards in 2006 compared to 2005. I can't wait to see what he does in his senior year, with a coach that wants to get the ball into his hands as much as possible.

After the REGULAR SEASON, Foster had 1330 yards.

I predict that Jayson Foster could beat a supersized Ditka 140-0.
