Hilliard begins his senior season ranked second in school history with 2,884 career rushing yards. He has 34 career rushing touchdowns. He is the fourth player in school history to rush for more than 2,000 career yards. He trails all-time leader Yohance Humphery (4,070 yards, 1998-2001) by 1,186 yards. He has rushed for 100-plus yards in a game 11 times in his career. His 216 career points rank him sixth in school history.

2006: Hilliard redshirted due to injury.

2005: He was a unanimous first team All-Big Sky Conference selection for the second season in a row and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award. His 1,322 yards rushing in 2005 were the second most in school history. (Humphery rushed for 1,658 yards in 2001). He was ranked 19th in the nation and second in the league in rushing, averaging 110.17 yards a game. He had six 100-yard rushing games. His 237-yard rushing game against Cal Poly on October 22 is the second highest total in school history.

2004: He was first team All-Big Sky and rushed for a team-high 972 yards and 17 touchdowns in just four starts. His 17 rushing touchdowns were the most by any running back in the conference. His 972 yards rushing that season tied him for the seventh-most in a season at Montana. He had five 100-yard rushing games.

2003: He was a redshirt candidate as a true freshman but was activated in the second game of the season. He played in 12 games (he did not play in the opener at Maine) and started once (Sam Houston State). He rushed for 590 yards – the most by a true freshman in recent history and was ranked ninth in the Big Sky in rushing.

High School: He earned eight letters at Flathead High School: four in football, three in track, and one in wrestling. He was team MVP in football as a junior and senior and a three-time all-state and all-conference pick in football. He participated in the East-West Shrine Game and the Montana-North Dakota All-Star Game. His high school football coach was Bob Applegate.

He set a school record as a sophomore by rushing for 1,384 yards and 14 touchdowns and was named to the Great Falls Tribune's Super State Team that season. His junior football team was the State AA runner-up. Career-wise he also set Flathead High School records by rushing for 3,419 yards and 44 touchdowns and compiling 4,410 all-purpose yards.

Lex was a two-time all-league selection in track, running the 100, 200 and 4x100 meter relay, and he also threw the shot put. His sophomore, junior, and senior track teams all won state AA championships.

Personal: He is a sociology major. Lex's parents are Elvis Hilliard and Leslie Moeller of Kalispell. Birth date: July 30, 1984.

Quoting head coach Bobby Hauck: "Lex has worked extremely hard since his injury, both in rehab and in performance enhancement areas. He's a leader on our football team. He was the preseason offensive MVP of our conference last year before he went down with an injury, which was a bad deal for our football team. Now that we're in the ‘07 season and he's back with us, it's just a godsend to have him back. I see Lex having a monster season."
