SDSU football unveils new uniforms

As part of a recent agreement with Nike, the South Dakota State University football team will take to the field in new uniforms during the 2007 season.

The new jerseys are made of a durable and form-fitting porthole mesh fabric. The Jackrabbits plan to wear blue jerseys with yellow pants for most home games, while wearing blue jerseys and blue pants for select games, such as Hobo Day. On the road, SDSU will wear white jerseys with either blue or yellow pants. . . . (read more)

The blue jerseys look great with the yellow pants. The white jerseys look good with either the yellow or blue pants. The blue jerseys look ridiculous with the blue pants.

I agree. Blue on blue is not such a good combo, but the rest looks very nice. My favorite is the blue and yellow combo.

SDSU gets new uniforms with swoosh

By Terry Vandrovec

Published: July 17, 2007

The simplistic design is reminiscent of Michigan, while the porthole mesh fabric is lighter and tighter, meaning it both holds less heat and is harder for opponents to hold.

But, frankly, the most important feature of South Dakota State's new football uniforms, unveiled Monday, is the swoosh located on the left pec and the right hip.

"When a recruit comes in, the fact that we can tell them we're a Nike school is a pretty big thing to kids at the Division I level," associate athletic director Rob Peterson said. "Like it or not, they ask that question."

The answer will be obvious for the next five years. As of July 1, the school's football and men's and women's basketball teams will be outfitted exclusively by Nike, changing from a combination of Wilson, Adidas and Nike. . . . (Read more)

I don't like the white/blue ones. It looks a bit plain. It could use some yellow, maybe lining the numbers. Blue/blue looks pretty cool to me, but I like the white/yellow the best.
If you guys ever play Delaware it'll be awfully confusing. :)

SDSU new duds look a lot like Delaware's, bad news according to Sports Illusrated who ranked UD in the Top 10 worst uniforms.

These are way too simple. Too boring.

Not modern looking enough. Need more stripes and lines.

The blue/blue and the white/yellow look awful. Hopefully you use those minimally.

I doubt it was for the color scheme.

Probably more for the circus number font. Also the blue look different from the blue on the helmet.

The blue on the jersey matches that of the helmet and has so since the '04 season.

Hobo Day is SDSU's Homecoming and the "Biggest One Day Event (read event as party) in the Dakotas". xprost2x

I like the uni's. The blue/blue is ok...

I think that they are classic but that does not mean that they are boring. Not every team needs to rip off their design from the Denver Broncos.

Good work Jacks!

They are going to look even better with a Gateway patch on them.

I would like to see a yellow jersy (blue numbers) with the blue pants.. I think that would be sharp.

I disagree.
Yellow or "old gold" jerseys only look good with white pants. Trust me. During my days at Towson, we wore gold/black and the god aweful gold/gold combo. Thankfully we went to black jerseys my Junior year. In theory yellow/blue might sound good, but in reality it really isn't. Plus reading the numbers is harder. Just my two cents.

Wow recruits are shopping brand names........if some recruit won't come to ASU b/c our jerseys aren't done by Nike he needs to go else where. We play to win championships, not advertise Nike or whatever. Our jerseys are made by Russel BTW. No knock to SDSU the uniforms look really good.

Would you allow App's uniforms to be made by Earl's old fashion stichin' shop on main street in Boone?

Recruits associate the quality of your program by the quality of the company that makes your uniforms. And rightly so.

It's a simple matter of credibility.

Maybe what SDSU can do in order to avoid any confusion is to place a little 'cottonball' on their backsides, like 'RabitRabbit's' avatar has in order to show that they're 'jackrabbits.'

I think it looks better with yellow pants and blue jerseys. As long as it's not yellow on yellow, makes the team look like a bunch of banannas. xlolx
