(2-1) SLU at (2-0) UIW
(0-2) HBU at (1-1) UCA

(1-2) ACU at (3-0) McNeese Homer vote. The Pokes are prime for someone to light them up and the their offense not respond.
(1-1) SHSU at (1-2) SFA Kats have their QB evidently so I will go with them although due to the rivalry it could be close
(2-1) SLU at (2-0) UIW Cards are surprising teams but I think the Lions will be too much.
(0-2) HBU at (1-1) UCA Bears should win this even after losing the QB
(2-1) Nicholls at (1-1) NWST Nicholls is rolling and their defense is stout.

It's what happens when your opponent practices two weeks for one QB and a new one with a different skill set comes in and has a field day...and your defense doesn't adjust to it. (I really don't think an adjustment would have been that hard.) I would like to know however what jinx that field has for WRs for both teams. Our sure handed WRs and some of yours dropped easy wide open balls while impossible catches were made one handed. xlolx

Oh and when was the last time UCA didn't have at least ONE player named to POTW by this point in the season? NONE. Unreal.

You are right. There were quite a few drops. We are really excited about Brock but, like you said, teams will adjust the game plan for him and take away his strengths. Is Breylin out for the year?

I kept asking: Why don't we leave a LB in the middle for QB contain on a pass play? Our DB's were doing a pretty decent job in coverage. Let's not let their QB keep running for first downs.

My understanding is he'll have X-Ray today and they'll know for sure. Doesn't look good though.

Baugh is capable QB that has had playing time. I think nerves got to him Saturday night (well, he and the center). He's a pretty decent QB that gave Breylin some competition during spring practice. I think having HBU this week will help him settle into the role if Breylin is done for the year.

The conference needs you guys to stay strong. Hopefully Baugh can fill in and get you back on a winning streak. And yes, HBU is always nice to see when you need a win.

(1-2) ACU at (3-0) McNeese: even though our offense is looking very anemic. I still think the rain and the SFA defense had something to do with it.
(1-1) SHSU at (1-2) SFA: this is almost a tossup. I think SFA is looking better especially on defense
(2-1) SLU at (2-0) UIW: just going with the home team. Also, it looks like UIW has a running game.
(0-2) HBU at (1-1) UCA: going with the home team
(2-1) Nicholls at (1-1) NWST: Nicholls too tought for NWST.

We have a winner.

New coach might not have made that adjustment. It's a learning experience I guess. But it's something we now know we need to do if that ever happens again. It's tough enough to win at SHSU with a full team. It's one of those places that is just that way. I thought we could have taken more shots down field though. Did you see Brandon Meyers on the sideline after his last dropped pass. Kid looked bummed. He's always been sure handed and Saturday those 3 drops (if I recall) got to him mentally. Even coach brought it up in the post game interview. Time to bounce back Brandon! xthumbsupx

(2-1) Nicholls at (1-1) NWST - Upset special -- NWST at home. I wouldn't lend home field advantage in a Nicholls/NWST game. Both teams travel well against each other neutralizing the advantage. Usually the winner is just the better team or the refs cheated (that's a joke since we are behind in the series lol).

He had a rough game. That first long pass was dropped in perfectly. The second was harder but still in his hands. He’ll bounce back.

Well I've had a couple of days to reflect on the game against SHSU and our season. First off Sammy played a heck of a game and found their QB. We likely lost ours. But coming into the season replacing the head coach, other assistant coaches, all but the one Olineman, QB, many talented defensive players etc. etc. we knew it was either going to be a reloading or rebuilding season. With the loss of Breylin I can now say its a rebuilding season. We lost just too much to overcome. Only ONE season has UCA not been in second or tied for second in conference if we haven't won it. While I'm an optimist I also think we have now lost too many parts for that to happen. Had he stayed in that game we likely would have snuck out of Huntsville with a win and likely gone on later in the season to face McNeese for a shot at the conference. Ugh. But that's the way it goes sometimes. Breylin will be back for two more years and that's a good thing. Now we get to see what Baugh can do for the offense with a week of practice under his belt against HBU at home. I predict a win and some GOOOOOOOD tailgating! xbowx

Well, we could go this route at QB also:

BeSean McCray- QB
PREVIOUS SCHOOL: 2017 All-District 5-8A First Team...2017 FHSAA All-State Honorable Mention...
Orlando Sentinel All-Orlando Team...
Three-Star Recruit by ESPN...
123rd-ranked dual-threat QB in the nation by 24/7 Sports...
helped lead Dr. Phillips High School to the the Florida 8A State Championship...
finished the 2017 by completeing 167-of-241 passes (69.2%) for 2,208 yards (13.2 yards per completion) and 20 touchdowns...
ran the ball 71 time for 608 yards (8.6 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns

Doesn't he get 4 games before he has to declare redshirt? Or is that only applicable to the first 4 games of the year?

TBD- A small college outside of San Fran Tokyo. Their starting QB is a transfer from BYE-U. He was upset that he wasn't getting any playing time last year. Heard his backup is now complaining the same thing. TBD runs a 4-3 and enjoys competition from ALL levels of football including the NFL.

Can't wait to see this game! xbowx

Apparently, the Environmentalists have taken exception to Lumberjacks, since it deals with deforestation and loss of woodland creature habitat, as well as water conservation, so the school in Nacogdoches is currently seeking an atlernative mascot name.

TBD could mean To Be Determined...or....it could mean Texas Bio Diversity....

Losses by Lamar (already 4 losses), HBU, SFA, SLU (must win conference), and ACU put them out of any at-large post season hopes with 4 losses.

(1-2) ACU at (3-0) McNeese
(1-1) SHSU at (1-2) SFA
(2-1) SLU at (2-0) UIW (Will be a tough game though, UIW has a LEGIT offense.)
(0-2) HBU at (1-1) UCA
(2-1) Nicholls at (1-1) NWST

Here's where I see the conference standing so far according to Massey: Some of the yellow and orange are so close. It isn't ranked from best to worst just but only by losses total and likelyhood of winning. Some teams with 2 losses or 3 losses are skating thin on getting booted.

How is McNeese not favored to beat either UCA or SLU? Seems odd...

Yeah. I saw that. But it is using the fact that it took SHSU OT to beat UCA, both ranked teams. It does not take into account UCA losing their QB which may affect the rest of their season. These %s will be worse next week if UCA beats HBU. xlolx

After tomorrow it is likely that up to 7 SLC teams could have at least 3 losses already!

I'm looking at it this way. If you have 3 losses in the SLC where 7 teams already have 3 losses just 5 or 6 games into the season... you're likely OUT of post season consideration unless you WIN the conference. IF things stay the way they are, McNeese and Nicholls will go onto the playoffs with SHSU also on the border of looking for an at large spot.

Love it Bear, one of the things we really like about Darrel, and some of our other coaches, is how much they engage the athletes in the community. I would love to see our teams do even more, but I also see our student athletes take trips with other members of the student body as well as their team.

This team with Brock is completely different than the team that played the first 3 games. Trust me we would have won all three and they would not have been close. He didn’t so we deal with it!

Were you nervous?
Nawh. I know the plaaays.

Anyone want to explain why there are blackouts on the FCS level? I worked all day and got home to the Nicholls @ NWST game on ESPN3 via ESPN app, Comcast, and Playstation Vue blacked out.

UCAs QB has changed even more.

1st string QB Breylin Smith out the rest of the year with a broken ankle.
2nd string QB Kirk Baugh out with a shoulder injury.
3rd string QB Luke Hales now starting.
4th string QB Besean McCray etting into rotation.

I was thinking about it like this:

UCA's offense put up 52 points with a 3rd string QB. Defense contributed the other 14.

The coaches did a great job finding the weaknesses in HBU's defense and exploiting them.

It will be interesting to see who Ivey has on his radar.

At this point it couldn't get much worse.

The players are pretty mad and demoralized, but they refuse to give up and that being said the Jacks may bounce back against UCA at home this weekend as we seem to win at least one game a season we are not suppose to win.

Or it could be yet another blow out :) We will see.

But yes Lumberjack fans are excited to see what Ivey has in store at the conclusion of the season, mostly likely have a new head coach committed in waiting before the end of the season and ready to step in.

The blackout was because it was a local/regional broadcast origination, on CST, as opposed to a national one, like ESPN. So the blackout rules remain in effect. They want people tuned in to CST to watch it, not ESPN3. Pretty sucky, in my opinion, but that's the reason.

Also, your defense is stout. Wish the Demons would have taken advantage of all that great field position early...
