I have some scans from UMass-Boston College and UMass-Villanova 1978 game programs up on my UMass Football Blog (http://umass74.blogspot.com/).

Villanova was BCS/I-A back then. Some guy from Midway MA named Howie Long had a big day for the Wildcats.

UMass crushed BC 27-0 in front of a sold out McGuirk. This was the team that advanced to the first FCS national championship game.

UMass destroyed #1 seeded Nevada-Reno in the first round of the playoffs (it was 44-7 UMass before we sent in the subs).

FAMU rang up GSU style rushing numbers in the championship game and won 35-28.

The 70's haircuts on the players are a hoot----not that I ever had anything similar . :o

One of the programs has an ad featuring a guy in polyester bell-bottoms. I didn't scan that one. Didn't want anyone to loose their eye sight on a Monday morning. xlolx

I've added some scans from a Holy Cross-UMass game from Fitton Field on 11/11/1978. The link is UMass Football Blog (http://umass74.blogspot.com/).

It has the 1978 Holy Cross roster.

You might remember that the Holy Cross President, Fr. Brooks would later de-emphasize Holy Cross athletics because they were "moving away from the core values of Holy Cross'

You have to wonder what the good Father was thinking. The '78 Crusader roster is studded with Pre-meds, Physics and Math majors.

How many math and physics majors are on your team's squad?
