View Full Version : Your in-person 2018 college football schedule

I was just curious which games people planned to attend this upcoming season across all college football divisions, obviously including Division I-AA/FCS.

Here's my personal, planned schedule (all times Eastern):

DEFINITE/LIKELY GAMES
09/01 (Sat): Villanova at Temple, 12:00 PM
09/08 (Sat): Lafayette at Delaware, 3:30 PM
09/15 (Sat): Temple at Maryland, 12:00 PM
09/15 (Sat): Lehigh at Navy, 3:30 PM (definitely want to attend, but may pass if Temple/Maryland is close late and/or goes long)
09/22 (Sat): Lehigh at Penn, 3:00 PM
09/22 (Sat): Bucknell at Villanova, 6:00 PM (may pass on attending depending on how Lehigh/Penn goes; I'll almost definitely miss the end of Lehigh/Penn and/or the beginning of Bucknell/Villanova if I attend both games)
10/13 (Sat): Temple at Navy, 3:30 PM
11/10 (Sat): Mississippi State at Alabama, time TBA (depends on whether I can convince my brother who is attending Mississippi State to go to this game rather than the 76ers/Grizzlies NBA game in Memphis)

OTHER POSSIBLE GAMES
10/06 (Sat): Lehigh at Princeton, 1:00 PM (slim chance)
10/06 (Sat): East Carolina at Temple, time TBA (slim chance)
10/20 (Sat): Cincinnati at Temple, time TBA (will probably attend if game starts at 3:30 PM or 4 PM; currently plan to attend Devils/Flyers NHL game at 1 PM and Magic/76ers NBA game at 7:30 PM that day)
10/20 (Sat): Lehigh at Georgetown, 2:00 PM (this is my alternate option if I don't go to Philadelphia for the aforementioned games on 10/20)
10/27 (Sat): North Carolina at Virginia, time TBA (slim chance; a friend originally wanted to go to this game but has pulled out, but I'd still like to get to a game at Virginia at some point)
11/10 (Sat): Tulsa at Memphis, time TBA (could possibly attend if my brother and I attend the 76ers/Grizzlies NBA game that night and this football game is in the early afternoon)
11/17 (Sat): Lehigh at Lafayette, 12:30 PM (it's looking like I'll be visiting the family that weekend, so if a Lafayette or Lehigh fan on here can hook me up with a ticket for L-L 154, let me know)

In addition to games listed above, any Division I-AA/FCS or Division II playoff games involving Lehigh, Lafayette, Villanova, Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, and/or Indiana (PA) taking place relatively close to DC on Saturday 11/24 or Saturday 12/1 are also possibilities.

Finally, I plan to attend most likely three Philadelphia Eagles games NFL games this fall (9/23 vs Indianapolis, 10/21 vs Carolina, and 12/30 at Washington).

So which college football games do you plan to attend during the 2018 season?

I’ll be attending the Prarie View, Nicholls (road), Central Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana and ACU games for sure. Will probably be at all playoff games, home or road.

Looking forward to another great year of FCS football. Greatest division in sports. Nothing beats FCS football on Saturday afternoons. Looking forward to interacting and getting made fun of with/by everyone around here. Go SHSU!

All home UNH games except for Colgate, all UNH away games except for Colorado. I'll be in Shenandoah Valley most of September, I'll probably skip Robert Morris and will probably go to W&M @ JMU game. Of course I'll go to UNH's 3 home playoff wins and the game at Toyota Stadium on Jan 5th.

I actually have to miss one home game this year, the regular season finale against Indiana State the weekend before Thanksgiving. I guess if I gotta miss one though, that'd be the one to do it.

Otherwise I'll be at all the rest of the home games:
9/15 - Montana
9/29 - Youngstown State
10/13 - North Dakota State
10/27 - Northern Iowa

As well as two away games that are nearby:
9/8 - at Illinois
10/6 - at Illinois State (Redbird 4th and Short - you going to be there again?)

Sadly, yet in some ways happily, I'm only going to be able to make UCA home games the next two years. I got two boys playing J.V. and H.S. football on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Just too busy and completely burned out by season's end! xlolx

GLTUOwl - the Lehigh/Penn game is on Saturday 9/22, and unfortunately the Phillies are on the road that day.

On a more positive note, if Phillies make the playoffs and are one of the top two NL division champions, they will likely host Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday 10/6, making a two sport day-night doubleheader with the Lehigh/Princeton game doable, especially if the Phillies NLDS game is the later of the two NLDS games (which mind you is unlikely; a potential Phillies home NLDS game on Saturday 10/6 would probably start around 4 PM). The Saturday 10/6 East Carolina/Temple game would work even better for such a doubleheader.

One other thing - with the Saturday 10/20 Cincinnati/Temple game keep in mind that the Flyers are playing at home at 1 PM and the 76ers are playing at home at 7:30 PM. If the Bearcats/Owls game is a 12 PM ET kickoff (which I expect because the Eagles play at home at 1 PM the next day), some people will be arriving at the south Philadelphia stadium complex for the Devils/Flyers game at the same as other people are arriving for the Cincinnati/Temple game. Incidentally, there is also a chance the Phillies could be hosting a playoff game (NLCS Game 6) that day too if they make the playoffs and advance to the NLCS.

Good catch on the Lehigh-Penn date. I was convinced Lehigh's bye was after the Navy game, thus 9/22. That sucks! My friend and I were very close to being committed to the Lehigh/Phillies double-header. Those Phillies-Braves games could be huge!

Thanks for the heads up on the Temple-Cincinnati game. I have no issue with parking on campus (or Center City) and riding the subway down!

Six Albany home games, definitely at Pitt, probably at William & Mary, possible at Rhode Island and New Hampshire, unlikely at Maine.

Playoffs? Are we talkin' 'bout playoffs? Would take a couple of upsets to get there. Second week of the playoffs Albany basketball is playing two in Belfast, N. Ireland. Thinking about those.

Also Mets at Red Sox 9/16.

Sorry that I'm going to miss Wofford and VMI playing live and in-person, but seeing the PorchYappers 3x live last year put me way over quota. And, I'm afraid that watching the Keydets execute an Air Raid Offense just might cause an aneurysm, so I'm OK with not witnessing that.

I should note I made a mistake on the MLB playoff schedule; the National League playoffs will start first in 2018. That means there will not be any NLDS games on Saturday 10/6 barring rainouts (or a large scale tie for NL playoff positions), and if there is an NLDS game on Saturday 10/6, it will be Game 7 of the NLCS, not Game 6.

The closest Harvard game to my place this year is Penn, which has lousy parking and tailgating scenes. I’ll probably see a Delaware game or two, if only to support Kani Kane (Sussex County kid who is a starter this year at RB). We’re also financial supporters of D-III athletics at Salisbury U, where I am finishing up my master’s this year.

As of now:

9/1 Cal Poly vs NDSU
9/15 Concordia-St Paul vs Mankato State (with Laker)

Potentially:

10/13 NDSU vs WIU (have to get my dad on board)

I'll be at every Lafayette game except at Colgate 9/29... don't want to sit through cold and snow

May go to Lehigh at Princeton 10/6 (Lafayette bye week)

I used to think that when I retired, I would spend the fall back in CT ( I live in AZ) and go to all the games.

With almost all games now available on TV or online I prefer the comfort of my living room.

Living outside of Orlando and having a daughter at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), it is hard to get up to see many WCU games. If the Wofford vs Western game is for a playoff spot, I will be in Cullowhee for that. Here is my tentative schedule:

1-Sep
Camping out on couch all weekend

Avoid the Labor Day traffic

8-Sep

Air Force @ FAU

Boca Raton, FL

15-Sep

Bethune-Cookman @ FAU

Boca Raton, FL

21-Sep
FAU @ UCF

Orlando, FL

29-Sep

TBD

6-Oct

ODU @ FAU

Boca Raton, FL

13-Oct
UTC @ WCU

Cullowhee, NC

20-Oct

WCU @ Mercer

Macon, GA

26-Oct

LA Tech @ FAU

Boca Raton, FL

3-Nov
Fishing with my dad

Amelia Island, FL

10-Nov

WKU @ FAU or Woff @ WCU

Boca Raton, FL or Cullowhee, NC

17-Nov

Fishing with my dad

Amelia Island, FL

Playoff weekends to be determined by if WCU gets in and/or what FCS teams are playing close enough for me to attend. I'll also most likely go to whatever bowl FAU plays in as a season-ticket holder.

Also, with the bulk of the SoCon games moving from ESPN3 to ESPN+, I guess I have to pay the mothership for at least the months of September, October, and November in order to watch as many conference games as I can either live or after the fact.

I'm hoping to hit all 11 StFU games this year. All are within a reasonable driving distance.

I will be at all the home games. I made the Lehigh game. Trying to make some of the road games if my schedule allows it.

Cool City!

My buddy from Willmar just called. We are going to Sioux Falls for the Augustana-Mav game. On the way back we plan on watching the Jacks game against Montana State to make it a double header. So if any SDSU fans see a couple of old Mavericks wandering around you know it is us.
