One DT from Illinois that has now spend 1 year at Illinois and 5 at UNI - thank you medical redshirts.
One RB from Purdue - that grew up in Iowa and was recruited by UNI in high school. Older brother was one of the best RBs in Iowa HS history. Played at Iowa before legal, and mental health issues, forced him out of Iowa to an NAIA in his hometown. His younger brother left to go to IMG Academy for a year to get away from it all. Landed at Purdue over a few other places. Now back in Iowa at UNI.

I guess it should be noted that having 10, I believe, is still due to Mercer being a start-up program (1st year was 2013). You will notice that 8 of these 10 will be gone next year and, with the exception of Earnest, will have been Bears for the bulk of their college experience. I think, going forward, we will see Mercer take 0-4 Transfers / year and have something like 3 to 6 or 7 on the roster.

We have:
LB from Texas Tech
RB and DB from Cal
DE from Arkansas
DT from Fresno State
OL from Nevada (He was a walk on and only played in 1 game over 2 years)
DB from Texas

I'm sure we'll have a few more by the end of fall practice.

Malik Burns, OLB from Temple
Jared Drake, FB from Ohio State

Plus a handful of JUCO guys, but I assume just about everyone probably gets guys like that.

We also have a transfer from Charleston Southern, Safety Demetri Royer. Idk what his "eligibility status" is...was redshirted then medical redshirt last season. May have to sit a year, but idk.

We do have one from an FCS school, Drake. He didn't play football there. He played soccer.

This could be why we have had horrific FG kicking the last two or three years.

Defense:

- SR Notre Dame LB Josh Barajas transferred in 2017 .. didn't play much then got hurt; not sure if he is in their plans this year or not.
- SR Wisconsin LB Ty Deforest transferred in 2016 .. but he was only a preferred walk-on at Wiscy, local HS hero, not really an FBS transfer. Barely played in 2016, played some back up in 2017, might start in 2018 with Horton getting dismissed recently.
- SO Iowa DE Rome McKnight just transferred in ... will probably see field this year on 2 deep and could challenge DE Swaine for starting spot. This one could be difference maker within a year or so once he acclimates.

Offense:

- JR Illinois OL Gabe Megginson just transferred in .. he is expected to start this fall; he could be a good one.
- SR WR Indiana Jordan Fuchs is reportedly transferring in ... probably not happening due to academics
- SO WR Florida Atlantic Antonio Hadden transferred in 2017 .. barely played on weak WR group last year; should play more this year.
- JR Memphis QB Brady Davis just transferred in .. he is not expected to take SR QB Kolbe's job, but probably in line for 2019 shot

So maybe 6 total, assuming WR Fuchs is no go. But only one sure starter OL Megginson game 1, and only 3 may contribute from our 2 deep in 2018. But again, I don't consider LB Deforest an FBS transfer .. he was an FCS level player that just wanted to play for his home state University.

As far as I could tell just 4.

#14 Jimmy Kepouros, WR, 5'8", 185, Junior, Lemont, Illinois, Western Michigan.

#13 Desmond Cain, WR, 5'10", 186, Senior, Boynton Beach, Fla., Illinois.

#2 Cordell Pimienta, Cordell Pimienta, WR, 6'0", 193, Redshirt Sophomore, Ruskin, Fla., Minot State.

2 FBS transfers, 1 FCS transfer and 1 Division II transfer.

Desmond Cain played a decent amount last year and will hopefully be more in the mix this year.

The term fbs transfer is tricky because most will take it literally and say they must transfer directly from an fbs school. Many players that transfer to the FCS level will have a stop at a JUCO in between. Technically not an fbs transfer.

A. Cain couldn't get a PI call if they defender was riding him piggyback with his hands over his eyes. Not sure why he was invisible to the referees. Other NDSU WRs would get a call occasionally.
B. Honestly, if I had to start a WR corps from scratch, the first guy I'd take from NDSU history is 5-7 Ryan Smith. Of course, it's doubtful that any transfer is going to be as good as Ryan.

9 FBS
2 FCS
2 D2
2 D3/NAIA
3 Jucos
1 Prep

In fairness several of the FBS kids were walk ons at their FBS school and are still walk ons at Chattanooga. The D2 and D3 kids are mostly Chattanooga Locals that just wanted to come home. Of the 3 jucos, one was a RS at a G5 school, one originally signed with a D2 school and one was straight to Juco.

LU has had a small number of transfers over my time. With the current flood of transfers , there should be some we could accept who could help. As far as I can tell , we are not proactive in the transfer market. Last one I recall was the OL player from Cincy. Got his degree but not medical clearance to play for us.

Yes, they are rare. But with the new regs on grad players being eligible, I would think we could tap into more than the few we've had.

On the current roster we have only one from a P5 school and he only played in one game there. We have one from a G5, and 2 from the Army Prep Team(does that even count as FBS?) Some others may be coming in this summer, but they can't be added to the roster until all official documents of admission are cleared.

Not going to do the analysis, but my sense is there has been at least 6-10 FBS Transfers on Samford’s Roster each year since 2014; and possibly prior. I think most, if not all, of the Bulldogs in the NFL were Transfers...maybe 1 of those DB’s wasn’t...not sure.

Oh, and don’t forget the recent signee / transfer from this ‘school’... http://birminghamprepcardinals.org/ - not an FBS, but still, um, interesting.

The title of this thread doesn't ask for reflections, but number on the team's roster. The player from the link you provided is also not on the current roster. and I'm guessing also won't be a full scholly. If you want reflection, you can go back to roster archives. If you want future numbers, then you must wait for the final roster which comes up soon. As of now, I believe my information to be accurate.

Dartmouth will have one--a QB from U of Florida.

We had a QB from Illinois last season, but he tore his ACL (his second) in a JV game and elected to quit football. Can't blame him...

If the Florida guy can live up to his billing, it will be hard to see Dartmouth losing to anyone next season. QB is really the only position of need for us. I suppose we could use a short-yardage RB as well. But otherwise, we're set (assuming good health and good grades).

2017: @Stetson (2-9 PFL), HC (4-7 PL), and @Sacred Heart (4-7 NEC)
2016: UNH 22-21 (8-5 CAA), @HC (4-7 PL), and Towson (4-7 CAA)
2015: @Georgetown (4-7 PL), Sacred Heat (6-5 NEC), and @CCSU (4-7 NEC)
2014: CCSU (3-9 PL) @UNH 19-52 (12-2 CAA), and HC (4-8 PL)

I seriously doubt Ivy League teams would make a splash. Sure you'd get the NEC winner if you hadn't played each other and would probably win, but when you play a team with a pulse, you'd get obliterated. Sure you won 10 straight OOC games, but when you practically play either CCSU, Sacred Heart, or HC almost every year, you are probably going to be favored. Only twice did you play a team with a pulse and in the first match-up, you were tossed around the field like a rag doll and in the second match-up, UNH decided to crap the bed and let you score 17 unanswered points in the 4th Q to shoot themselves in the foot. I do not buy the Ivy as contenders for the FCS until they play premier teams in premier conferences year in and year out WHILE ALSO participating in the playoffs.

Remind me again why the admin allows March Madness and every other tournament but not FCS Football?

Try something more than Youtube to respond.

-Lost to 5-7 Lehigh 21-34 (FCS participant)
-Lost to 3-8 Lafayette 7-10
-Lost to 7-4 Colgate 7-45 (Only team with winning record in PL)

-Averaged only 145yds of rushing per game (65th in FCS)
-Gave up over 367.9 of total yards per game (62nd in FCS)
-According to the aggregate, they were 67th overall in the FCS
-They finished in the bottom half of Sagarin
-PL is rated worse than the MEAC and sit at 12th out of 14th.
-Averaged only 23pts per game in the 3rd worst conference.

I could go on and on, but I still think you will drink the kool-aid and pretend that HC is not a cupcake. Anyone can catch lightning in a bottle and that is what they did against a decent/ok UNH team that relied on Marty to get into the playoffs. Show me that they did not get lucky and I will change my mind, but you and I both know you are trying to inflate a pathetic schedule that the Ivy/Dartmouth plays in hopes of masquerading your conference/team as a solid program that can win 10 OOC in a row.
