What's your favorite place to visit within your conference? Is it because of the food, fans, or city surrounding the campus?

NSIC- Southwest State in Marshall MN. For one thing it is the second closest stadium for me to drive to- 75 miles compared to driving 70 to Mankato. Nice stadium where much of the home side is covered by an overhang. Really helps when it is cold, windy or raining. Lots of parking, a pair of Golden Mustang statues located on the southwest side of the stadium, roomy concourse, nice scoreboard, friendly fans. Have some Schwan's ice cream or some Red Baron pizza.

For football, I've only ever been to Cedar Falls (UNI) and Normal (ILSU). I think I prefer Normal a bit, but both are fine. I've got family connections to both schools, so I've spent in the areas outside of football too (my mom was a Redbird, my wife's parents are Panthers).

I have been to multiple different stadiums throughout the years, but Frisco is by far, the best place. Until one goes there, one does not realize how amazing it truly is.

For me hands down it would have to be Southern. Traveling to Louisiana is always great because its home for me, but you have the food the culture and tailgating that will rival FBS power 5 teams. Great fans, intense game usually, and one of the best bands in America.

I am still needing to get to several others in the SLC, but the best for me was still McNeese in Lake Charles. The stadium is older but a good atmosphere and the tailgating was great. The Casino's were a bonus. Even though it was about a 9 hour drive by myself it was worth it.

Scenic-wise I'd say Northwestern State has a beautiful area surrounding the campus. Stadium is old and big but the drive around it is easy and there is a TON of cultural things to do there. Great food and arts in Nac. SFA has a beautiful campus too when there's not 3 feet of rain falling an hour. xlolx

All the PL places are cool in their own way. The only PL school I haven't been for a game is Holy Cross. I have been to their campus.

I'd say Bucknell is my favorite. The campus is beautiful, Central PA is my favorite part of the state and Christy Matthewson Stadium is a great place to watch a game.

I am trying to think of any of them that I would consider favorites. At Northwestern St., I like the town and the downtown area but I am not crazy about the stadium. I do like ACU's new shiny stadium even though it is a little small but there wasn't much atmosphere around the game.

At all the other venues, all the people have been okay and I've never had a problem (like at SWT/TSU when they were in the conference). Can't really say I have any favorites with them. There are a few things I dislike about a few. I totally dislike the lighting at UIW or lack of it (from a photographer's viewpoint) and I don't like the stripes at UCA but I am an old fogey and think football fields should be green even the artificial turf ones. And I haven't found any tailgating that is better than ours. ;)

Well, since I don't live there its Charleston. But, if I had to pick another place other than my school, it is a tie. Cullowee and WCU are nice, has pretty good scenery and it is real close to me. VMI and Lexington are pretty cool as well. Very picturesque in the valley. Nice campus. I may have to give them the nudge. Plus my dad lives real close so it is a bonus for travel.

Duquesne, Pittsburgh is no longer a dump, pretty interesting architecture, downtown near the stadiums is pretty cool and really fun on weekends the Steelers are home. Also Duquesne's visitor's bleachers allows you to be up close and personal to the team, close enough to upset your olfactory senses on a warm game day. That closeness is not for the weak, timid or easily offended.

Surprisingly, Northern Colorado, in Greeley.

Cheap and quick flight out of MSP (Twin Cities) on Saturday morning - rent a nice car for the drive through the stink to Greeley - visit the train museum - easy tailgating next to the stadium - one hour drive back to Denver and enjoy the city for an evening (maybe eat something special) - fly out in the morning after a nice breakfast downtown.

It's also the only destination in the Big Sky that I've managed to get to. The other stadiums are all too expensive to fly to, or take multiple days to drive to. Almost pulled the trigger on the Sacramento/Nappa trip this past fall, as flights were only like 375. Could see some potential there.

Obviously Missoula and Bozeman would be amazing places to see a game, but they are nearly impossible to get to or too expensive unless the trip becomes a full-on vacation. Weber would be great too, actually, and flights into SLC probably aren't that bad, but nothing compares to Greeley/Denver when price and time are a factor. Greely also probably has the best UND fan turnout with their proximity to our large Denver alumni base.

Really looking forward to the so-called **** cities in the MVFC. You guys have no idea how nice it is to be able to drive to a game and not miss multiple days of work!
Once in the MVFC, I'm really looking forward to UNI, because it's only a three and a half hour drive. xxmasx

I completely agree that almost anything is better than Vermintown, but that said, outside of the Ralph, it does not have many redeeming qualities. I personally tried to avoid it as often as I could, but since I had friends who lived up near the border, I had to drive through it. I used to live in Bismarck, ND, the difference in the weather between Bismarck and Fargo in the winter time is fairly significant. The Red River Valley is brutal in the winter time.

Just a word of advice, you'll want to avoid GFCC.

Too late, my older half brother went there and used to be a CPA for UND.

I have never been to a road football game at any of the Big Sky schools. Here are the trips I would like to make:

Montana for the rivalry and atmosphere.
Portland State because I live in the Seattle area and Portland is any easy drive.
Eastern because I always enjoy visiting Spokane.
NAU to see the Grand Canyon.
UC Davis or Sac State to visit Northern California.
Cal Poly to see the California coast.

For me it’s Charleston, IL for EIU as it’s the closest to me as an APSU grad/Alum, very fun time when I was there. Only OVC stadium I’ve never been to is Jville State

Savannah State is leaving the MEAC, and I hate to see them go because Savannah GA is one of my favorite cities to visit. The Downtown historic district is full of culture, great food and an exciting nitelife! There were ALWAYS good times when the Rattlers visited Savannah!

Besides Savannah, there really isn't a MEAC school I enjoy travelling to. They are all either too far away or in destinations not attractive enough to travel to. Howard in D.C. is a good trip, but its not one you consistently make. Once or twice is more than enough.

I'd love to see FAMU in the Sunbelt. I'm travelling to Troy when we play them next season and there are many other schools in their conference that's close by I'd visit each year.

Given that I live in the Bronx, Fordham the obvious choice. I thoroughly enjoy road trips to Lehigh and Lafayette -- we play one of the two on the road every year and I always try to make it. Since graduation, I have not made it even ONCE to Colgate, Bucknell or Georgetown. I definitely am looking to end that streak. The early favorite is a trip to DC this coming November.

Troy is actually pretty nice now. They've made some amazing upgrades to the campus. We went last year and it looked a lot better than it did our last trip.

Somehow Youngstown missed the Conde Nast top 20 destinations, but was first on this list. If by some great misfortune you find yourself in "the yo", make sure you've had your hepatitis series and wear titanium condoms if partaking in the local nightlife.

I see several other fcs cities made the list, ranked even higher then Youngstown, which is hard to believe.

Agreed. I've never been to a game there or actually even real close to SSU's campus, but my parents love to go there, usually rent a cottage out on Tybee Island and spend a week in the area. We've gone down there with them a few times and really enjoyed it. Savannah is a beautiful city.

Somewhat unrelated, but hey...it's the offseason. My family just got back from a trip to Disney World. We drove down, so it kinda felt like a "tour of FCS teams" with the route we were taking. We were pretty close to SIU, Austin Peay, Tennessee State, UT-Chattanooga, Kennesaw State, Mercer, and passed by one campus (not the main one) of Murray State.

Not sure what was going on there, but we went past UTC's stadium on Saturday night on the way down (3/10) and they had the lights on, which kinda lit up all of Chattanooga due to the rain and fog.

Also went past an FBS that many FCS's could take down (Georgia State) and a DII that for a while could probably have taken down most of the FCS (Valdosta State).

The Bison have 4 away games this year. I've been to UNI, USD and WIU before but Missouri State will be my first time. Hear it is a nice stadium and looking forward to seeing it.

Does UNI still have "Hells Bells" as it's entrance song?

Since we added the video board we’ve tied hype videos to the song. This is the one from like 2 years ago. This is what plays on the video board. Kind of cool how it leads into it

Bucknell is an easy drive and the stadium is nice in spite of the track. I like going to Colgate (before November) and connect with my old coach, Fred Dunlap. Holy Cross is an interesting trip as we usually include a night in Boston. Laughyette is not a trip as I live only four miles from Fisher. Fordham is a pain in the azz due to traffic, but I like watching the game in Coffey. G'town facilities make what could be a great trip, an exercise.

I live in the Bronx so Fordham obvious winner closely followed by Lafayette and Lehigh. Both pleasant road trips on a Saturday morning and like both venues very much.
