One assistant from Stanford, two from his own Texas State program (LB coach and Football Operations Assistant)...

BAILIFF NAMES THREE TO COMPLETE OWLS' STAFF
LaFavers, Patterson and Stacy join staff

Rice head football coach David Bailiff announced Tuesday that he has completed assembling his staff for the 2007 season with the hiring of Rick LaFavers, Darrell Patterson and Chris Stacy.

LaFavers will coach the Owls' tight ends and special teams, Patterson will coach Rice's running backs, while Stacy will take over as the Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations.

LaFavers comes to Rice from Texas State, where he tutored the Bobcats' linebackers last year under Bailiff. He came to Texas State in 2006 after spending three years as the head strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M under Dennis Franchione. Prior to coming to A&M, he spent two seasons with Franchione at Alabama as a defensive graduate assistant .

Patterson joins the Owls from Stanford, where he coached the linebackers the past two seasons. Prior to joining the Cardinal, he coached at SMU, Baylor, Arkansas State, Kentucky and Temple after making his college coaching debut at Akron in 1992 after a seven-year playing career as a linebacker in the Canadian Football League.

Stacy spent the past four years with Bailiff as the Director of Football Operations at Texas State. He will supervise the planning and execution of the logistics surrounding the Owls program. He is a 2002 graduate of Texas Tech.
