With a new staff, 2007 could be both fun and treacherous for PC. Enjoy the jump to FCS- it's well worth any initial suffering.

Some of the probable pain of next season should be eased by Pikeville (5-6 in '06, losing 41-10 to NAIA #10 Georgetown, KY), and Div. II Chowan (0-10 in '06).

Y'all will beat North Greenville, maybe Chowan(they suck)

I think we have a good chance with Chowan, Pikeville, North Greenville.

Good games that would require work would be VMI and Chuck South

I think if we had this years staff we could go against NCCU, but I am a little sketchy about that game now.

I'll repeat my post on the PC board here. I was under the impression that PC was playing all 5 of the Big South schools in '07 and Gardner-Webb isn't on this slate. I see open slots on 9/15 and 11/17 but I know that G-W is playing Liberty on 11/17 and 9/15 seems a bit early for a "conference" game. G-W has a hole in their sched on 11/3 and I'm thinking that you might visit G-W on 11/3 and host Chowan on 11/17.

Pikeville? I had to look them up just like Chowan. We're playing CHowan, and only lord knows why.

I'd hate to be a recruiter at Chowan.

Chowan is non-schollie, aren't they?

Per their web site, they do offer athletic scholarships.

Well, that's new. I guess Atkinson's trying to get something done down there.

At 0-10 last year, I would certainly hope he's trying to do something.

Not much more ground to give than that.

Dunno. A lot of people view I-A games by I-AA's as a recruiting tool, not a negative. :twocents:

Reasonable point, but those kids better love a real challenge to character if the thrill is completing with higher-level schools without much chance of winning games.

PC played well against Charleston Southern last year. ( I believe)

They may fair better in games than people believe and still only win 3 or 4 games.

If I weren't going to be at the Wofford/Gardner-Webb game Oct. 13, I'd love to see PC play NGU. I think that has a lot of potential to be an exciting game given Bentley's offensive philosophy and NGU's propensity to score.

PC is always pretty tough, we played them in the 60's-80's and they played us pretty damn tough. Before GSU started up football again PC and Newberry used to get a lot of players from south georgia. I wish PC well but I really don't think they have any idea what they are in for.

Ok here is my take on PC,

Small and undersized, diffidently and not as athletic as other Big South teams, but they play hard, fierce football with a lot of heart perhaps instilled in them by Spangler and the other staff. I think the old staff would be very competitive next season because of the toughness they instill. Bentley, although I believe he will be very successful with time, may have a hard time next year with his grass basketball style of play with the talent of kids that’s at PC now.

PC has been a team that has won traditionally at D-II not because of talent necessarily but because of toughness. Bentley is not a Bear Bryant type of coach so I believe that the toughness will be lost some. Bentley runs a highly efficient offence utilizing great athletes. It may take him a couple of years. Those small linemen PC has won’t out tough and out physical bigger opponents next year like they have in the past.

However, I do believe they will have a better year than most on here believe they will.

I still can't believe that the Big South schools made you visit just to play them this year. Eesh - that is horrible, not a very nice welcome to the Big South Conference.

I'd like to wish the Ho's luck, but this talk of winning in D2.....When we played them, (at their house), we OWNED them.

545 yds passing
6 TD's
UCA - 52
PC - 28

Size of players had a lot to do with that game. When you have 300 pund linemen to our 250's you will get killed on the line.

Welcome to D-I!!! You will see mostly 300 lb linemen against play-off quality teams, and many of the others also.

Most everyone in the Big South is 300 lbers across the O-Line two-deep. Ditto with the interior DL.

They'll be good sooner than some may think if Bentley can recruit well in upstate SC. He certainly has a lot of contacts and good kids from his former HS program. If they add on to their stadium it would help with recruting

Its too bad he couldn't get Korn to ditch Clemson for PC.

Korn had already started attending classes at Clemson so he could participate in Spring Practice before PC hired Bentley.

Adding on to their stadium would just mean more empty seats, I don't see how that would help recruiting.

Also, I suspect Bentley knew that Byrnes had peaked and got out of town before the fall.:twocents: He had a penchant for running up the score over the last few years, that may hurt some of his recruiting.
