Jeremy Hammock - Assistant Coach (TE) Co-Special Teams Coordinator

Jeremy Hammock is in his fourth season on the SFA coaching staff, handling responsibilities with the Lumberjacks’ tight ends as well as serving as SFA’s co-special teams coordinator.

The tight ends once again served as a key component of the Lumberjack offense in 2016 as the trio of Will Taylor, Nick Jones and Lucas Askew combined for 17 catches for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also providing crucial pass and run blocking. On special teams, junior Trae Hart ranked among the nation's leaders in punt return average at 12.4 yards per return, earning second team All-SLC honors.

In 2015, the Lumberjack tight ends once again played a key role in SFA’s offensive scheme, providing key blocking and other aspects that didn’t always register on the box score. With a young but talented contingent, including sophomore Will Taylor and redshirt freshman Lucas Askew, the position made great strides.

From a special teams standpoint, SFA was among the conference leaders in returns, led by Robert Sylvester’s 21.1 kick return average. The ‘Jacks were also one of a few teams in the nation to not have a kick blocked in 2015 while registering five blocked kicks of their own.

The tight end position added a new wrinkle to the Lumberjack offense in 2014 as the trio of Danan Henderson, jayson Clements and Will Taylor added another threat to the SFA offense. In addition to providing key blocking for Walter Payton Award finalist Gus Johnson and SLC Newcomer of the Year, Zach Conque, the tight end corps accounted for 169 receiving yards and three touchdowns on the season.

Hammock comes to Nacogdoches with coach Conque from Central Arkansas where he spent the previous three seasons as the Bears’ running backs coach.

Before joining the UCA staff, Hammock spent two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe, his alma mater, working as a graduate assistant from 2009-10 in charge of the Warhawks offensive line. Hammock spent two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College, serving as the director of football operations while coaching both the wide receivers and tight ends.

A four-year letterwinner at Louisiana-Monroe, Hammock was a two-year starter at tight end and helped lead the Warhawks to the Sun Belt championship in 2005.

He earned his degree in general studies from ULM in 2006 and is married to Markia. The Hammocks welcomed their first son, Jace, in the spring of 2015.
