Two highly touted recruits, who were supposed to slowly work their way into the lineup during the 2016 Yale Football season, had to contribute much sooner than expected due to injuries. Tailback Alan Lamar and offensive lineman Sterling Strother were rewarded for their early impact by being named honorable mention freshman All-America by herosports.com.
