SHSU's punter is first team all conference? How many times did he punt this year? Twice?

Running dives for a full quarter a game adds up.

Our punter has a remarkable story. His dad was killed and his sister was severely injured last year in a car wreck. He's overcome the adversity and player fantastic this year. Numerous balls downed at the 1.

I think we deliberately went 3 and out a few times just so he could get some practice... 😜

That's too bad for the kid but great to hear how he's performed in spite of it. I'm just trying to raz the masses a bit, good for him to achieve an accomplishment like this.

Having a punter who can flip the field is especially huge in the playoffs. Just ask UNI about their quarterfinal loss to NDSU last year to see how much a punter can affect a playoff game.

Considering your punter was the MVP of the 2011 natty, I have to agree.

The large DB yall had on Stewart played very well. It's just very hard to find 4 more of those at the FCS level.

Yeah we moved one more guy up to defend the run and hoped our DBs could do the job. Not sure that was the best option but hindsight is 20/20. The Bearkats are talented on offense no doubt. What I didnt understand was the lack of passing by us.

Its just really hard to keep all of the weapons we have covered. That may sound like bragging but you saw first hand Sat., our slots were covered by linebackers a lot of the time and Briscoe picked those matchups apart.

Heck of a year for the Bearkats! When the team comes in picked to win the conference and does with ease their is no denying how good they are. But I will take consolation that after being picked 5th by the conference, losing over 30+ players, and really having a schedule that was road heavy we were able to make the playoffs.

Now the new season begins!

Weren't like 40 guys on your roster this year freshman? You guys are going to be scary in a couple years.

Yep. We didnt play too many of them but now we have seen our seniors tire out because of the depth issues. Coach tried rotating in players en mass so very few of our seniors have big stats.....but it finally caught up to us against the Bearkats. I can tell the team is worn out due to our lack of depth because they are slamming helmets, pushing WRs on the line, and blocking has decreased. Oh well, coach will get his system going soon enough. Scary thing is that it resembles Sammys with big Oline guys and talented skill guys. Just need another year to get the balance back. I was worried before the year started that the incoming class was so large. Well it WAS an issue. But the good news is i've seen the commits and the future looks good for a conference run next year.

He wasn't the MVP. RFr LB Travis Beck was the MVP for his interception and return to the 1.

Ben LeCompte is my hero...
Mine too but he wasn't the punter in 2011.

He had a helluva Title game. THE moment in the game
That wasn't LeCompte it was a former running back turned punter Matt Voigtlander. It was the play of the game no doubt.
