Guys do you think that a Game Day-type show directed towards FCS and D2 football could get off the ground and become successful? Why or Why not?

Yes, if they make sure it moves around. Can't be at NDSU every week.:D

To answer your question seriously, no. 90% of FCS can't fill up their stadium. The only people that would watch would be AGS members. And while we're loud, passionate and obnoxious, there just isn't enough of us to support an entire show.

Maybe a few people can get together and put a show on the web, different location with different people every week?

There's a http://www.hbcugameday.com/ show that does the internet style shows but it isn't a live stream, they just post them on the site and on social media. I know next year they're going to live stream shows at various locations.

Bison56 might be onto something, some kind of fan-run video series. Each team would have to have some dedicated fans put out videos every week with updates, predictions, etc.

Some teams would be able to pull this off, but I doubt North Dakota State could pull this off. They just don't have enough fan support..:(

FCS games on ESPN can't even crack 1,000,000 viewers.

This might be the first thing aired on ESPN that gets less than 100 viewers.

The major problem I see with it on ESPN is you would more than likely get all sorts of Jay Walker, and no one wants more Jay Walker.

Iowa fans would love this since it would mean that Beth Mowins wouldn't announce every game they have on ESPN anymore. It would tear apart the Dynamic Duo of Beth Mowins and Anthony Becht.

It's a shame that FCS football gets the shaft but it depends on the school's outlook towards athletics and what role they want athletics to play. One thing that irks me is the PA announcer at any FCS game giving FBS scores. I don't think the FCS schools, as a whole mind you, educate their alums, students and fans on exactly what FCS is and that's a shame. GO CATS!

I don't mind the scores as much as I hate seeing FBS gear at FCS games.

People come decked out in Bammer gear and listen to the game on headphones. Why bother??

Jay is okay, he's just a MEAC homer. He does a pretty good job on the HBCU games minus the MEAC homer-ism.

The only way something like this would work imo is if you included D2 and D3 into it. I think a show that really focuses on the "other" levels of college football would create a little more interest and respect. I don't believe FCS alone is going to move the needle much outside of specific locations.

If you could get a network to carry a few top games from each level that really showcase UW-Whitewater, Mt Union, Northwest Missouri, Grand Valley, St. John's, Pittsburg State Valdosta State, North Alabama, IUP, MN-Duluth, North Dakota State, Montana, Grambling, JMU, The Citadel, EWU, SHSU, Jacksonville State and other quality games involving lesser known schools there could be come success.

I'd still like to see the FCS, D2 and D3 championship games held at the same local for a few years and see what the feedback would be like. I'm a little a nutty but that would be a bucket list trip.

Can we get a Beth Mowins v Pam Ward steel cage announcing deathmatch? Maybe we'll get lucky and the Earth will open up a gurgling maw and swallow them both during said event xrotatehx

I would think a little fan support in the form of a contest might help. You know vote for the games of the week, only on a larger scale. Talk up the future games each week. You would have voters/viewers wanting to see the results. Show the results at the bottom of the screen along with the score of the current game. That sort of thing. Make it an event with lots of bells and whistles. It could grow as it takes on a life of its own. Look at how we did here a few weeks ago with the GotW. That is small scale but it generated a much higher interest than it has previously. Same concept, different scale.

You would have to be willing to educate people about FCS and build the TV fan base. ESPN shows the same thing multiple times. An hour show every week would build a following. But I doubt you could send a crew to a different location every week(very expensive). But you could work with a local broadcaster to extend your reach from the studio.

That's why you have to pick and choose you spots and include D2 and D3. As someone who follows all four levels I'd love to see the lower levels showcased in some way. With the right matchups people would be drawn in. You don't need 40k+ plus people in the stands for people to pay attention. You need a good environment, something at stake and quality on the field product.

There's usually 2 or 3 D2 (PSAC) schools in PA that are nationally relevant and worth paying attention too. I'd love to see some intersectional games that include IUP and Cal(PA) vs Valdosta State or Northwest Missouri.

There's some nice facilities and good fan support at the FCS, D2 and D3 levels.

The Brawl, Lehigh-Lafayette, Harvard-Yale, The Citadel-VMI, Richmond-W&M, UNH-Maine, NDSU-UND etc all should be nationally broadcasted at some point.
