I'll co-sign on this. I can't see your picks working any other way. Maine may give JMU a game, particularly since Maine is home. UR, I think, will generate a running game to pull out a win over Colgate but we all know toothpaste is capable of beating top CAA teams. UR cannot afford to drop this one and should come out of the tunnel ready to prove a point.

Last week: 8-1 Season: 28-4

JMU 34 Maine 21 - Maine a tough place to play, but it's not the dead of winter for a few weeks.

UNH 30 URI 17 - if there was ever a week for Rhody to get a win, nah never mind.

Richmond 38 Colgate 20 - the death of the Spiders is greatly exaggerated.

Stony Brook 23 Sacred Heart 14 - Sea Wolves becoming a nice story as they knock the Pioneers from the unbeaten.

Villanova 31 Lafayette 10 - 1st matchup since 1920 when Pards won 34-0. Sweet revenge was worth the wait!

Albany 23 St.Francis (Pa.) 21 - The Great Danes quickly becoming the CAA story of the season.

W&M 34 Elon 14 - not sure if Elon is going in the right direction.

Another point on this is I don't expect Albany to run through the CAA like a hot knife through butter, but it's a nice start & story for a program building & trying to compete with the better CAA teams. That's all.

This. This is not the St. Francis of old. They have big play ability, as evidenced by the first three games. And, there will always be a chip on their shoulder when playing against an old conference mate. There won't be much in the need of motivation for them to get up for this match-up.

I think if we bottle up the run, and don't have any offensive miscues, we should win by 6+.

Exactly. This was always a five year plan. This is, quite frankly, a surprising early run. We are in Year 3 of CAA scholarship players. We lost our star safety to a broken hand. We lost our most experienced WR to a season-ending broken foot. We barely have a QB that I'd consider to be "right now, ready, CAA-caliber".

And the big number: 26 of the 44 players on the two-deep, that are seeing significant minutes" are either Freshman or Sophomores from a game playing experience standpoint (bunch of red-shirts are part of that group). That's a huge number, and bodes well for the future if we can put together a comparable O-line over the next two seasons.

Wow no one is giving the black bears a chance. There's usually at least one JMU hate pick thrown in there ;). Our defense has proven nothing since at least 2012. We're still very much a work in progress. If maine can stop the run and get to Schor, it'll be a way too interesting game. Can they do that? Abdullah and Johnson are looking like a thunder and lightning running attack. Even UNC defenders had trouble with them.

Saw you guys against the Tar Heels and was very impressed with Abdullah, Johnson and the OLine. Schor was effective as well but defensively that is another story. Our senior QB Collins looks so much better this year and our WR's can create separation and the best one Micah Wright is back from his 2 game suspension. Biggest difference is our OC Liam Cohen the X-QB at UMass. I am expecting us to give you guys a heck of a game and anything else will be disappointing. We are healthy in all facets as far as I know, should be a good one and if our d-line can keep your offense from going crazy I like our chances.

#7 James Madison @ Maine
- Rough start to schedule continues for Black Bears, maybe they take a bit out of the Dukes for next week though
New Hampshire @ Rhode Island
- Rams seem to pick of one unfocused team at home. Wildcats seem to fit bill this year
#23 Colgate @ #10 Richmond
- Spiders probably can't afford to drop this one, try to take out frustrations on Raiders
Sacred Heart @ #25 Stony Brook
- Could see Pioneers taking the win, think the Seawolves show the Temple game was the fluke
#20 Villanova @ Lafayette
- Wildcats top Leopards, make CAA 2-0 in Easton
St. Francis @ #18 Albany
- Danes win, but Red Flash keep it closer than would be expected
Elon @ #11 William & Mary
- Tribe easy, at least Phoenix get to be on TV

UNH 45 URI 10 - The Rams are the perfect rebound opponent following UNH's tough loss to Dartmouth....

Stony Brook 30 Sacred Heart 12 - These are the type of games the Seawolves sleep walk through...

Villanova 37 Lafayette 24 - The 'Pards will put up a respectable performance but it won't be enough...

If Maine wins, no way will 23 points be enough. The black bears could stun the Dukes this week, but it'll be a shootout, not a low scoring affair. Think 45-42 or something along those lines. I think expect the Dukes defense to look better this week, though admittedly Maine has some strong skill position players on offense. They still don't have UNC's playmakers. I am guessing JMU 38-28, but that may even be underestimating the scoring.

I don't get how some think Colgate will beat Richmond this week. Their chances would've been better had Richmond not just get blown out by an unranked Stony Brook team picked to finish 8th in the CAA. Now Colgate is going to get a more focused and pissed off Spider team. Rocco isn't going to let them drop two in a row.

The only way Maine wins this game is by slowing the Duke's offense and slugging it out in a low scoring affair. Likely? No. But it's fun to make predictions...

Wishful thinking on my part. I'm hoping for demoralization to the tune of shuttering the program, if only so that the Tribe won't have to play the Spiders in November. That could just be the PTSD talking, though.

I see Maine playing this one closer than you might think. They have a shot imho. They played UConn toe-to-toe in the opener on the road. No reason to think that JMU is this run away train for them in Orono.

JMU blowout would be impressive, butI don't expect one.

Maine I coming off a bye too. I think they'll be ready for the Dukes tomorrow. I completely agree that a JMU blowout (similar to what Toledo did to Maine) would be damn impressive.

#7 James Madison @ Maine - This one reeks of an upset, but I think JMU wins a close game. Maine waits one more week to put together their run.

New Hampshire @ Rhode Island - Poor Rhody.

#23 Colgate @ #10 Richmond - I have to think Richmond, at home, will be flying around the field after getting curb stomped by SBU last week. Colgate is a solid team but this is a brutal spot for them.

Sacred Heart @ #25 Stony Brook - Are you kidding me with this team?? I've been on them for 3+ years, loving the defense and just waiting for them to put it all together, yet every .500 year I've been disappointed. Maybe it's finally happened? I'm 0-3 on SBU picks so far, but after last week's eye-opening and incredibly impressive demolition of Richmond, I have to think that finally, finally the Seawolves are here.

#20 Villanova @ Lafayette - After watching Villanova throttle Towson last week, I know at least this: their D is for real. Hard to believe these schools haven't played in a million years.

St. Francis @ #18 Albany - Albany continues to surprise everyone.

Elon @ #11 William & Mary - Elon is still a few years away.

Good lord that was an ugly game by us. A win is a win. Maine is probably better than many of us expected. Aggressive defense that was all over Schor who had a very poor day himself. We were +2 in the TO margin and that was easily the difference in the game.

JMU defense looked better. still giving up a few big plays, but we're forcing turnovers and came up with 3 huge sacks. 12:00 kickoffs in Maine are never easy. big conference win.

With the funk that this entire conference was in this week, I suddenly don't feel so bad about winning ugly over Maine. There was a black cloud over the entire mid-Atlantic and northeast apparently.

ugly win? that might prove to be your biggest win of the season when it's all over, Maine is never an easy win on the road

big game next week for Delaware, in fact our fans are calling it a must win.... should be a great game.

This +1

Maine looked very solid. I am very interested to see their record 3 or 4 weeks from now.

It was ugly. Our QB Schor couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Our OC still kept forcing pass plays anyways. Once we started to run, we found success. It was baffling.
Our defense looked like its recent self the entire first half and the officials were doing Maine many favors too. Endless barrage of missed holding and PI calls and a bogus PI call against our D kept maine's second TD drive alive when it should've settled for a FG. Replay clearly showed the pass attempt was sailing five feet above the receivers head and not anything resembling "catchable".
Anyways, our defense stepped up in the second half with 3 INTs and 3 sacks to shut Maine down to only one FG all half I believe. They single handedly saved the game with our O looking lost and confused all game.

Actually it seem like it was Maine that was the ugly team in this one, especially in the 2nd half. I think they gave the Head Referee a defective mic so we couldn't hear his "Down East" accent.

Forgive me, the shellacking by a bad FBS team, sandwiched between the home drubbing by Gardner-Webb and the home win vs a D2 school, had not inspired much confidence. Plus I still hate Elon for last year. xoopsx
