on the sideline. I'm glad to get the win, but am more happy to be reminded that it's just a sport.

Yeah, they definitely didn't lose because of their D. When the D gets a safety and only gives up one TD you shouldn't lose that game. Sounded like the offense got its ass kicked on the interior.

I think quality loses are applied when playing UNI, SDSU and NDSU. But, I am not sure. Can some of MVFC elite clarify for me...

Saw some good things on O. Streveler has the big play ability and the O will give some teams problems this year. Need to shore up the D. They don't need to be lights out, just need to make enough stops to allow the O to put points on the board.

MSU had a top defense in the league for a few years...but the last three or so have been pretty bad.

The D is what I worry about with USD going forward.

Look at Bob's WIU teams. Extremely talented on offense. Good schemes. Solid depth. Great top end players.

He was, always has been, horrendous at building a defenses and special teams.

WIU finished in the bottom half of every stat category of special teams and defense.

I'm not drawing conclusions from one game with a roster he didn't build, but it's a legit concern moving forward.

After nearly turning the ball over on its 5th straight possession (snap hit the WR in motion), CCSU misses a chip shot PAT.

Then after the stout Central defense holds Lafayette to a quick 3 and out, CCSU returns the ensuing punt for a TD ... but laundry on the filed takes the points off the board. On a subsequent play, CCSU throws a TD pass which is called back on offsetting penalties. Then CCSU settles for a 43-yard FG :(

Hopefully this is just first game jitters for the Blue Devils and the second half we come out more composed. I'm certainly not proud of how we have performed, but Central trails by just a TD. This is very similar to our poor first half last season in the opener vs. Lehigh.

All things considered, Central can win this game and if we didn't have so many mistakes (turnovers and penalties), CCSU would have a lead.

CCSU turns the ball over to Lafayette 4 times on the first 4 possession, yet both teams have run the same number of plays (35) and have the same number of first downs (10). Central is pretty well balanced on offense (3.4 yards per rush and 5.3 yards per pass attempt).

The really good news - CCSU has held the Leopards to -27 Net Yards Rushing and has forced Lafayette to punt the ball 4 times.

When the Lafayette QB has some time, he's been doing a good job slinging the ball around. Their passing game is quite good (and our secondary is not). However, the CCSU run defense and pressure on the QB is overwhelming the Leopards.
