Wow, that would be something. It'd be like a coach fired from Montana heading to Bozeman to coach Montana St. A coach fired from Texas heading across the Red River to Oklahoma or even a coach fired from Harvard joining the Yale coaching staff...but the rumors are flying according to Nick Deriso of the Monroe News Star that Grambling's ousted head coach, Melvin Spears, may make an appearance on the Southern coaching staff.

If this is the case...Ralph, it may be time for us to book our travels to the 2007 Bayou Classic!

From our CSN Waves buddy, Nick Deriso...

Southern living?

One of the tastiest rumors flying around today was that deposed Grambling coach Melvin Spears had travelled to Baton Rouge and begun talks with Pete Richardson about a spot on the Southern staff.

Of course, there was an opposing view that he was actually in town to meet with a lawyer about resolving the issue of the remaining three seasons on his five-year deal, in question after Grambling let Spears go on Monday.

But I haven't talked to Spears, and couldn't tell you what's true or what's not. So, let's stick to football.

Imagine Spears on the staff of Grambling's most-hated rival. Talk about your storylines.
