Congrats to Dalyn Williams on earning a contract with the Bears. He was offered a tryout and reportedly impressed the hell out of the coaching staff.

He should have been the Ivy's Offensive MVP last season. Best of luck to him at the next level!

It's very tough to make the roster as an undrafted free agent. Tyler Varga defied the odds and did it last year with the Colts. I hope Dalyn Williams makes it. The more Ivy League players in the NFL the better the reputation of Ivy League football.

On what basis should Williams "have been the Ivy's Offensive MVP" last season? Third-rated passer (and in total yardage, as well)

Best QB. Thus far, the NFL agrees.

Scott Hosch will be the Gino Torretta of the Ivy League.

And good to see you made it over, Observer! :)

I actually see a Russell Wilson type QB in DW. DW is a better athlete IMO. If he makes a roster, he could be a steal if giving the chance xnodx

The Bears' roster should be as good as any for him to crack. Their QB depth chart isn't exactly Montana/Young/Bono.

Cutler's #1, Hoyer's #2 and it's a question of whether they keep 2 or 3 QBs on the roster with 1 on the practice squad. If they keep 3, Fales has the inside track with Williams likely taking Matt Blanchard's (Wisconsin Whitewater) spot on the practice squad. That will give Williams some time to adjust and grow into the role.

The Bears liked Blanchard but he was no longer eligible for their practice squad. Blanchard was well liked by some other teams as well so he'll likely get another shot somewhere else.

I had him rated as the #71 overall small school player in the draft so he should have been on a contract from the beginning. Being at 71 puts him with a 50/50 shot at a practice squad. He's a very good player who I think will probably end up being a star in the CFL if it does not work out in the NFL.

For Emory who was saying if he got a shot he would make it, well now he has been given a shot and with the Bears roster he has a 50/50 shot to make a practice squad. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Blanchard was waived by the Bears after they signed Williams.

Yes because he was ineligible for the practice squad and they had Hoyer and Fales in front of him. IMO, they signed Williams to take his place on the practice squad.
