SHSU loses 62-10 in the semis and Richmond loses 33-7. Personally I think Richmond should be ahead of them especially considering what NDSU did to JSU in the final. And UNI gets rated 8th out of the Quarterfinal schools? I get we had the worst record, but still...

Edit: Sorry we were ahead of Colgate, but behind McNeese who lost a round earlier.

Stats and Coaches were the two polls JSU fans couldn't get enough of all season.

I can't even with this thing.

I would put uni at 2, only team to challenge the champs in the playoffs, JSU would have been .500 or less in the MVFC

McNeese isn't #7....and SHSU isn't #3...not with a loss to Lamar and whoever else they lost to...

I'd put SHSU just outside the top 5...and McNeese at 9 or 10, maybe...

I put UNI at 2. In fact my entire top 5 were on our side of the bracket.

I'd be willing to bet that UNI would have won it if we wouldn't have beat you. If ands and buts and you got a bucket of nuts but that's my opinion.
At the end of the year you guys were dialed. A little better pass game would have helped but even with that it was a pretty solid team.

Careful, JSU wouldn't have even made the playoffs with a record like that.

No he's right, we suck. A 5-6 MVFC team is worth a 13-2 team anywhere else.

JSU definitely did not suck. You had a bad game. You could have taken the championship if things lined up right. It just wasn't your day.
When you are talking the top five teams competition is tight, just showing up mentally ready to play your best game is huge.
USD-NDSU proved that. I think JSU-Sam Houston, SDSU in general, and Richmond-NDSU proved that too. We all seemed to choke
and excel at different times of the year. NDSU was ready when it mattered and showed up in a big way.

Toward the end of the year, I'd have put JSU at 2 or 3 with UNI. That would have been a game I'd have liked to see
with both teams showing up and playing good games. If JSU had actually had some competition throughout the season
things would be interesting. Its tough to get better when you have no competition to make you better. That is not JSU's
fault, it's just the way it is. If I was your coach I'd desperately try to schedule a few mid level FBS teams throughout the
season just to see where you weaknesses are and get the players used to having to actually grind out games for 4 quarters.

This is exactly the talk of every NDSU fan I ran into in Texas. Everyone we play sucks. I guess this make NDSU the best sucker.
Just appreciate you have a good team and well ran organization. But if it makes you feel better to be the best of the worse rather than the best of the best keep on tell everyone how much they suck.

If you're being honest with yourself you would realize that your team was not challenged much throughout the season. I'd say 3 or 4 games that were even close. That is just a fact. I really do think JSU would have been a much better team if they had more closely matched competition throughout the year.

I do think you are looking at a small sample size. I made a little money off folks up here that saw your SHSU game and thought we were doomed. The OVC is a fairly weak conference and you guys ran through it like a top team should. You also beat a solid Chattaanoga twice and another solid club in CSU. Plus the BearKat beatdown. A lot of causal fans will just look at one game like SHSU or one data point like your weak conference and make an opinion.

To be fair the entire OVC other than JSU was god awful. So most of the teams you did play, did suck.

OVC 2nd place EIU lost 53-17 against MVFC 5th place UNI.

I agree a 100% but the solution to the problem is the hard part. Weve had to go to UTC for two years in back to back to get those games. Furman, which was stronger when scheduled, back out on us. Samford will not play us. Our fans would be happy to play anyone good but cost has to be factored in also.

SHSU had one of those games. SHSU wasnt as bad of a team as the score indicated. We had a similar game Saturday but its the way things work and when they happen against a good teams you cant correct the problem.

No JSU fan will argue the OVC isn't weak at football.

The problem is that we aren't the ones in control of our conference affiliation or that Furman pansied out for FBS money like UTC will in 2017 and 2019.

The talent in the OVC isnt as bad as most believe. The biggest liability in the OVC is the coaching. If you swapped the coaches from the MVC to the OVC, and their weigh and conditioning programs, you could very well be saying the opposite. But you would also have to sell the schools on the fact you can be good at basketball and football, which isnt a problem with the MVC schools. Of course us JSU fans do not want to talk about basketball, we truly do suck.

So basically, if you swapped the OVC for the MVFC, they'd be better?

He's say coaches can be a difference maker. The OVC has one. He's at JSU.

Yes and he showed it by being completely blindsided and "overprepared" for the NC game.

He looked every bit like he was a high school coach 4 years ago.

You know practicing too much is an actual thing right?

Not saying it's the reason we lost, but it's an actual thing.

He seemed pretty indecisive and was not ready for the stage. If he's the best coach in the conference then it is no small wonder the other teams are hot garbage. He'll be better for the experience.

He is probably head and heels above all but the UTM coach. This doesnt count for the new ones coming in this year. But I do believe you are understanding part of the OVC problems.
