OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
RB Marshaun Coprich, Illinois State, Sr.
Led the MVFC in rushing yards (1,720), touchdowns (20), yards per game (156.4), all-purpose yards per game (169.0) and scoring (11.1) … rushed for over 100 yards in nine of 11 games and posted three games with over 200 yards rushing … posted seven multiple TD games and six games with over 150 yards rushing … rushed for season-high 254 yards and three TDs at SIU (Nov. 14) … followed that with 251 yards and tied career-high with four TDs vs. South Dakota (Nov. 21) … three-time MVFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Has 69 total tackles, including 48 solo and six for loss … two forced fumbles and three PBUs.

Started nine games and had a team-high 1,029 rush yards, tying him for third all-time in MVFC history in season rushing yards by a QB … fourth in the FCS in rushing TDs and added 1,362 pass yards with nine passing TDs … his 17 rushing TDs is a UNI season record by a QB and ties DeAndre Smith from Missouri State (1990) for the MVFC record … had five 100-plus rushing yard games, including back-to-back to end the year … career-high 169 rush yards in win over No. 6 ranked SDSU … career-high 231 pass yards vs. USD.

‘BRUCE CRADDOCK’ COACH OF THE YEAR
Bob Nielson, Western Illinois
Western was picked to finish eighth in the MVFC preseason poll and tied for third, despite having the nation’s toughest schedule. That improvement of 5 spots from the preseason poll is the second-biggest jump for the Leathernecks dating back to the inaugural preseason poll in 1986. Nielson has now taken a team at the Division III, II and I FCS to the NCAA playoffs. He coached Wartburg (2x) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (1x) to the Division III postseason, and won two Division II National titles at Minnesota-Duluth, with six appearances in all. This year’s post-season appearance for Nielson is his 10th in 23 years.

Ianotti is awesome; though I think it is fitting that the Offensive POY has been able to lead his to team to more than 3 wins.

Marshaun couldn't lead that SIU defense to more wins than that. With the line Iannotti had Marshaun would have a couple hundred less yards

I hate when people punish kids because the rest of the team is hot garbage.

Mike Perish was a miracle worker last year. Same situation as Iannotti.

I get where you are coming from but I think the coaches just felt Coprich is a better football player. Look at the overall career as well. Coprich has been a great player and was getting schemed against this year and had the box stacked by defenses several times. I think Iannotti had a huge year and should have been OFF POY this year over Coprich but maybe the coaches voted for the player they felt is the most talented.

I'm agreeing but just explaining as to what the coaches were probably thinking.

While this is true, and Ianotti did have a hell of a year stats wise, and for my money is the toughest competitor in the MVFC, it is with great regret that I must remove my homer glasses and disagree with the majority opinion here. 5 games lost by 3 pts. or less - bad execution on an xp cost us the Indiana game, 7 turnovers at SEMO, numerous 3 and outs in the 4th qtr of winnable games, along with lots of red-zone trips ending in fgs in the close losses. The OPY will make those 6 or 7 plays that kept us out of the playoffs regardless of how bad the defense is and we're 8-3. So yeah, Coprich had a lot more help, but he deserves the award.

I may be wrong but I believe Coprich also had a few below average rushing games--that's why we look at the totality of work for the season---just picking up your homer glasses and putting them on--He's the best QB in the Valley, by far

I'd disagree that he's the best QB in the MVFC at all. Had he stayed healthy Carson Wentz would've likely been a Payton finalist.

Now if you want to say Iannotti had the best year of any QB in the MVFC it's tough to argue with that.

I think he knows Wentz is far superior. Wentz is a potential top 50 NFL Draft pick for a lot of reasons. Iannotti had the best season of any MVFC QB and was one of the best in FCS this year but everyone at SIU knows Iannotti is not as good of a player as Wentz. Had Wentz not gotten hurt he would have been the OFF POY.

You said Iannotti was the "best QB in the valley by far" which said nothing about this season. You didn't say anything about Wentz being not good but nothing about that comment insinuated you were talking about this year only. Had you said "Iannotti had the best year of any valley QB by far" I'd agree with you.

Iannotti had a very good year. The Bison beat his a** but he hung in there and still produced. Probably the MVP on his team compared to any other player on his team.
