Especially when combined with LSD. This poll is simply bizarre.

A loss will really hurt you in this poll. Portland State dropped 21 positions, SHSU dropped 28, and ewu fell 23 after their losses this past weekend.

That poll has to be based on the availability of a local recipe for haggis or stinky Norwegian fish. It certainly cannot be for football.

SIU ranked #21 with a 3-6 record and moved UP 2 spots after this weekend

USD ranked #28 witha 5-4 record and moved up 11 spots after this weekend

Saturday November 7, 2015 USD 34 - SIU 31 FINAL

So according to this poll the Salukis move up 2 spots after losing to the Coyotes and remain ranked ahead of the team that just beat them and has a better record than them.

This poll seems legit.

The Griz, EWU, and NAU are all outside the top-40 and have similar rankings to Bryant & Holy Cross. xlolx

To be fair - their preseason poll wasn't too bad. Not great, but not too bad compared to every other preseason poll

I only read Page 1 in this thread and looked at the first link, but I am amused by the Ivy League's #4 conference ranking. IMO the Ivy League is pretty good this year (and underrated by a lot of people on here), but it isn't that good.

McNeese State at #39 after dropping 10 spots with their win over Sam Houston State...LOL! Are they trying to prove that there is a poll out there that is worse than the coaches poll?

What a crap poll.

Actually this is based on the BennettRank method, which is a predictive model. It really doesn't care about the past, but on a theoretical match-up between two teams and who would win at the moment. It's a computer based ranking, so there will be some surprises, but on the other hand it also can show some bias in subjective polls. Either way it's still a game and I wouldn't go to Vegas expecting to win much on rankings regardless of who does it.

How can you explain JSU dropping 2 spots after beating EIU.... AND EIU dropping 2 spots after losing to us?

We didn't play great, but we didn't look that bad against a solid EIU team by 21 at their place. EIU played us tough and didn't really deserve to drop... but both of us dropping?

That by itself invalidates the poll.

Nah, it likely just uses some metrics that aren't very predictive at this point in time. Football is a complex game like that. A lot of variables to consider. My guess is that there are seasons or points in a season where his data fits very well with what we see on the field.

Look through their website and find their "list of FCS defenses that could dominate at the FBS level." Its classic. Somebody post it.

There are 2 on the list that are legit. The rest are questionable... a couple are downright laughable... what the MVFC, OVC, or SoCon would do to Campbell would be really, really bad. It wouldn't even have to be one of the better teams... maybe Peay or MSU would struggle... but anyone else could name the score. Alcorn? Kennesaw is remarkable for their first season, but not an FBS caliber defense.

Charleston Southern
CAMPBELL
McNeese
Harvard
Kennesaw
Alcorn
Youngstown

I would like to hear their reasoning for both SDSU and NDSU over JSU, but whatever. There's a reason their poll doesn't matter. So much wrong with this poll, it looks like they picked names out of a hat. UTM at 19? Ok then.
