I almost added him. If he can put up one more big game I'm putting him on. He is better than Dube. I dropped Dube and quite frankly I only put him on to get a rep from the NEC but found a more worthy one from Duquesne so that made it easier to drop Dube.

Many voters only see the stats so unfortunately for some this is a stats game. Honestly, the best defender in the country is either DHC or Miller but they don't have the PD numbers to win it. It always goes to a LB or DE because they can get the numbers. If a CB, S, or DT has the stats to even be in the running on paper you give it to them because that is hard to do.

How are any players in the top 5 in anyway better than Deiondre Hall, he has put up his numbers (better than any of the 5) while playing part of the season with a cast on his right hand, while playing two different positions to help the team out due to injuries, and while playing in the best conference in the country.

I would argue that Karter Schult's numbers are better than any on that list as well.

I almost put Hall in the top 5 but went with DHC because of his special teams play. The award typically goes to LBs and DEs and with the production of those put in there it is hard for a DB to sneak in without having at least 7 or 8 INTs. Hall is a top 5 defensive player but right now I would be surprised if he finished higher than 5-7 range because he needs more PDs. If he could have 2-3 INTs and 2 or 3 PBUs down the stretch here then he could probably put himself in there.

Love to see DHC getting recognized beyond the CAA. When watching W&M either in person or on TV, I occasionally find myself tracking his movements in the defensive backfield rather than following the line of scrimmage and the unfolding play. Can't remember another Tribe defender that has drawn my attention in the same way.

I just hate that it can't happen sooner.

No offense to the stats crew, but a carefully selected group of posters on this site, in conjunction with some other people/sources, would make some damn good choices for AA teams, POY, DPOY, OPOY, COY, etc...

I don't know for sure but I would be surprised if this was a STATS or Craig Haley decision. Something makes me think that Mickey Charles probably is the one stopping it. He owns the rights and I'm sure wants something that STATS doesn't really prefer to do so it stays put.

I would say we should do offense, defense, special teams, OL, freshman, and coach of the year.

What do you guys think?

Very doable (if you think there are 20 guys/gals here deserving of said respect xlolx ). There could also be a special forum/group to discuss the candidates as well.

That was kinda my point. It's either we use pseudonyms and not be taken as seriously as perhaps we should, or lose the anonymity and watch the participation plummet.

I don't know if I am the only NFL scout on here but I do know some coaches, SIDs, and media folks who are truly in the know do post here. There are also some big time boosters who are fans and alumni but have seen a lot of football and have a good eye.

Not sure I would be chosen, but I love this idea! Definitely willing to assist on anyway possible!

I wish more people would start by just posting their FCS poll after the results are released. Once of my biggest pet peeves about the STATS/"TSN" poll is the lack of visibility by the media votes.

There is one big reason you forget for not posting ballots. If you do then you open it up for a coach to contact media members and push their team or for that person to receive hate emails for voting a team 5 instead of 2 or 1. I get why you want to see it but there are enough crazy folks out there with nothing better to do than to complain who would ruin it.

Post count isn't the way I'd go.

I think if we were asked to list our top 15-20 FCS board posters that we would want to be involved we would see probably 12-13 of the same names show up on nearly every persons list

Some athletic departments create a "blacklist" for fans/media members that aren't positive enough/expose myths the athletic department wants spread.

They no longer get ticket priority, even if their donation level would give it to them.

That happens as well. Any school not credentialing legit media members should be fired. Their job is to credential them and with freedom of the press I would say it is unconstitutional to blacklist a media member who doesn't write what you want.
