No, it won’t be a night game, in the true sense of the word. But a good part of the contest will take place well after darkness has set in as Harvard and Yale square off on November 21st.

Although no official announcement has as yet been made, enough information is available to lead to the conclusion that it will indeed happen.
Both universities have released their coming football schedules, as has such sports sites as ESPN.com. All separately state that the kickoff for The Game will be at 2:30 PM. That’s when their past encounters were close to winding up

The historic rivals will play on Nov. 21 at the Yale Bowl, beginning at 2:30 p.m. NBC Sports Network will be televising the game as part of its Ivy League football package of games.

“They asked us to schedule that hour so it could get as broadly telecasted as possible,” Yale athletic director Tom Beckett said. “The Yale-Harvard game was selected first for the package and they wanted that time to get as large an audience around the country as possible.”

Hmm, shall I say, it's about time that the Bowl will have lights. How many more Ivy stadiums don't already have lights?

I'm pretty sure all the other Ivy stadiums have lights.

A 2:30 start is too late for that time of year. It's not like The Game will compete for ratings with whatever Rivalry Week game is on ABC at that time. Leave well enough alone!

The good news about this for Lehigh fans is that it might strike a conversation about how this could happen at Murray Goodman. On the other hand, 2:30 seems like such a weird time for a kickoff. 4:30 would be much better.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. The issue is not the lights at the stadium. It's lighting for the parking areas and walkways to the stadium. Those would be cost prohibitive.

True enough if they put in fixed lighting. A viable alternative ,that no one seems to address is temporary lighting. Went toa HS a few years ago. School had same problem. Solved it by mounting 4 way lamps in 5 pick up trucks spaced fairly far apart in the area. Minimal cost and the light was more than adequate .

2:30 is the standard for Big 10, SEC (West) and Big 12 games in the Central time zone that are the national TV game of the week. Then again, it presupposes an 11:00 AM EST start for the prior game that day. Would Lehigh move the start to 151 back to accommodate national TV?

Wouldn't work on the layout with all the parking out in the 'hinterlands'. Risk management would say no way. Big wide open area with fields and trees mixed in with all the alcohol..not a good mix.

It works at Penn State! I don't believe the cost argument against lights at Goodman. There's another reason imo and the lack of "proper lighting" is simply a convenient excuse. The cost to rent 10-15 portable light stations is pennies for a school like Lehigh. You can easily curtail and block off some of the far reaching lots. There's plenty of parking available for 10k people without having to reach the hinterlands.

+100, but not only behind in lights, how about the game day locker rooms and lack of a good sound system/video boardxsmhxxsmhx

obviously you do not get around to other stadiums that play night games.(and have alcohol)You act like we are talking about 50,000 fans leaving at night. 8-10,00 fans is soooo easy to accommodate and give a great night game experience.Build walkways and light them-to the parking lots, that will also be lighted. You must be one of the old 12:30pm farts, rather than looking ahead.xnodx

Maine Black Bear fan here, looking forward to our Homecoming game with the Eli's on 10/17. Believe it or not we have lights but won't need them as I think it is a 1:00pm kickoff.
Any idea if you guys are hosting a return trip in 16? Went to the Bowl as a youngsta when the Giants used the Bowl sometime in the 60's and would love to see it againxthumbsupx
