Conference Standing Predictions - SLC

Since predictions seem to be the order of the day, I will predict the order of finish in the Southland with conference records included. Feel free to offer yours....

The top half of the conference is maybe as good as it has ever been as far as good depth. Bottom half stills sucks. Will be tough for up-and-comers to break through...NWSU, ACU, Lamar

Sam Houston - 8-1 (only loss to McNeese)
McNeese - 7-2 (Underrated this year)
UCA - 6-3 (New coach's second year...players buying in)
SFA - 6-3 (Tough schedule.... but Conque is a really good coach)
Southeastern La. 5-4 (They don't realize how important Brian Bennett was to them)
ACU 4-5 (Could make a jump to top tier if all falls right)
Lamar 4-5 (Average as always)
Northwestern St. - 3-6
Incarnate Word 2-7
Houston Baptist 1-8
Nicholls 1-8

[BEAR]

Sam Houston - 8-1 (only loss to UCA)
SELA - 7-2 (Underrated this year without BB but will be stout on defense and defense wins championships..but not this year.)
UCA - 7-2 (Same offense- little better defense. New coach still a big question for fans.)
SFA - 6-3 (Tough schedule.... Cramp Clank middle pack coaching again)
McNeese 6-3 (Viator is nervous. Lose close games by last second field goals. )
ACU 4-5, 5-4 (The move up team that fit right in with the SLC like UCA did. )
Lamar 4-5 (So close to breaking the top 4 but fall short constantly)
Northwestern St. - 3-6
Incarnate Word 2-7
Houston Baptist 1-8 or 0-9
Nicholls 1-8

Seriously. I don't have much of a feel for how the great middle will wash out in the SLC. Someone will probably break out of the pack and challenge Sam Houston, but it could be SELA, UCA, McNeese, SFA or even ACU.

And I don't think you realize how good we're going to be on defense. No doubt we'll have a different look to our offense without Bennett, but we'll still be plenty good enough ... we're not gonna have to get into a scorefest with anybody. IMO, we'll be better than last year, especially considering expectations aren't as high.
